6 Best Ramen Spots in Dublin Worth Risking Our White Shirts For

I wasn’t always good with chopsticks, and my friends never forget to tease me when there’s a chance. One time, I had a client meeting over Japanese food, and it was…pretty distracting trying to eat with this utensil and talk business.

The whole thing was a blur, but I think a chopstick flew at some point. That’s when I realised that I really need to practice. And to do that, I needed to eat at Asian restaurants more often—and no group of people were happier than my pals.

They’re really supportive, and we even took turns treating each other to the best ramen restaurants in Dublin. Here are some of our favourites!

Where can I eat ramen in Dublin?

There are a bunch of restaurants where you can eat ramen in Dublin! Swing by YOI Ramen, The Ramen Bar, and Takara for a steamy, warm bowl of Japanese noodles with cosy vibes.

YOI Ramen is a cosy place to get amazing ramen noodles in Dublin because it serves Japanese street food with a modern twist. We adore this vibrant spot with its trendy neon signage and anime-style artworks, amazing for your photo backdrop!

We recommend getting your hands on the crispy chicken karaage don (fried rice bowl dish) and katsu (breaded and deep-fried cutlet) curry with some sake (Japanese rice wine), yuzu (East Asian citrus fruit) lemonade, or Japanese beers.

And if you’re a sweet tooth, we bet you’ll love the mochi (glutinous rice cake) ice cream or matcha cheesecake too!

Pro tips:

  • We heard YOI Ramen’s refreshing yuzu lemonade sells out pretty quickly on a hot summer day. If you don’t want to miss out, be sure to grab one early, even if you haven’t picked out other mains yet.
  • Also, we think this spot’s ramen portions are quite a lot. If unsure, we recommend asking a bowl to share first.

Should you only be interested in authentic Japanese food, The Ramen Bar features traditional broths you might love for dinner. It’s also got a nice ambience with wooden interiors and warm lanterns, which we believe gives off a peaceful Tokyo vibe.

Our favourite ramen dishes here are tori paitan (chicken white soup) and tonkotsu (pork bones) with black garlic. In our opinion, any of these would go well with the Japanese whiskeys or plum wine.

And if you’re up to it, why not try a new ice cream flavour? We like the sesame ice cream! Alternatively, you can always go for the dorayaki pancakes (made of two small, gong-shaped pancake patties).

Handy hacks:

  • We encourage arriving at The Ramen Bar early. The lines form pretty fast here from 6:30 pm onwards.
  • In our opinion, asking for extra black garlic oil is a must if you want a deeper, bolder flavour with anything. Otherwise, don’t miss out on the wasabi (a spicy horseradish condiment) mayo dip with gyoza (dumplings).

Curious what Japanese home-style cooking is like? Takara might just be the ramen spot in Dublin to explore! It’s a tiny space giving off a nostalgic Japanese deli atmosphere that we think many travellers look for.

The highlights for us are the shoyu (soy sauce) ramen and curry ramen. We also like combining the noodles with Japanese curry rice or pork buns to make the experience more filling.

We’re stoked about the variety of drinks too! Our top picks are the matcha latte and Kirin beer. Dessert-wise, we think you’ll like the red bean buns—great for kids too, in our opinion.

Nifty tricks:

  • There’s limited seating at Takara, so we suggest considering either early dining or takeout to avoid any hassle. Just remember to bring cash in case the card machine gets spotty.
  • Want a bit of everything? We recommend asking for half-portions of ramen! For us, this is handy for sampling the flavours. Next time, you’ll have a go-to dish!

How about some Korean food in Dublin? Day n Night serves fusion-style ramen with unique and bold flavours worth exploring. We also believe this spot is great for casual hangouts with its chill, urban atmosphere with lively music and dim lighting.

Besides the miso tantanmen (spicy miso ramen), we think many would enjoy Korean fried chicken. We think the loaded bao buns (steamed dumplings) aren’t bad, either! Of course, it’s a Korean thing to pair chicken with craft beer, so why not try it too?

And for something sweet, we love the milk tea soft serve—especially if you just had anything spicy. Another delightful option is the egg waffle sundaes, if you aren’t already full.

Friendly reminder:

If you’re not sure if you can handle spice at Day n Night, we encourage asking for spice adjustments early on. The staff here is known to be friendly, so we say don’t be shy!

Need date ideas? We think Nomo Ramen has a fine dining ambience you might appreciate with its speciality ramen in Dublin. It also features minimalistic interiors that look pretty sleek with dark tones and brass accents.

From the menu, we believe you’ll find the Wagyu shoyu (soy sauce) ramen or duck tsukemen (dipping noodles—separated noodles and soup) delightful. We also like the truffle chicken karaage (deep-fried) on the side!

To top it off, we recommend the high-end sake (rice wine) or yuzu (citrus fruit) cocktails to keep the gourmet feel. Otherwise, you can get simpler drinks but make it up with desserts like black sesame panna cotta (Italian cooked cream) or yuzu sorbet.

Expert advice:

Make sure to check Nomo Ramen’s menu in advance so you can balance your order flavours! For example, since the Wagyu ramen is rich, we recommend balancing it with something citrusy on the side.

Fancy some sushi with your ramen? Musashi is a cute dining spot known for its open kitchen and noodle and sushi combo. It also showcases Japanese pop art, which we think is very Instagram-worthy.

We suggest getting started with the tonkotsu (pork bones) ramen, as well as a sushi platter or bento set for a full meal. The drinks seem pretty simple, but we like the variety with Japanese tea, beers, and cocktails.

There’s also a matcha tiramisu if you haven’t tried that version yet! Otherwise, we like the mochi (glutinous rice cake) trio for a nice assortment of sweets.

Some things to remember:

  • We noticed that Musashi is the busiest during weekend lunch hours, so we recommend booking ahead of time!
  • And if you’re unsure about which sushi to pick, we say ask for the chef’s pick! We think you can’t go wrong with that. Plus, you might just get something fresher than the menu set!
