1. Takara Ramen & Deli Sushi Bar

Placed along Abbey Street Upper in Dublin 1, Takara Ramen & Deli Sushi Bar is a crowd favorite and go-to Japanese restaurant for its fresh and authentic dishes.
What we love in this restaurant is its broad menu of real Japanese food, especially the sushi and sashimi selections. There are even sets for sushi and sashimi if you want a taste of all the flavors in just one dish.
Our bias in Takara’s menu is the Chumaki Set because of the variety of rolls included. For only €10.45, you can have a tasty combination of four salmon nigiri, two salmon and avocado sushi, California rolls, and ebi tempura rolls.
The restaurant also allows you to make your own futomaki with one seafood base, two sides, and two sauces. To add, this personalized futomaki is served in large size with a miso soup.
In case you want to try other Japanese foods on top of the mouthwatering sushi meal, we recommend getting from the Tapas menu for small bites of gyoza, skewers, and prawns. These are better paired with Takara’s beers and beverages.
However, the high volume of customers creates long on-site queues and waiting time. Worry not, Takara is open daily for dine-in, takeaway, and delivery. It even has its own app for ordering.
Pros
- Fresh quality ingredients
- Allows you to make your own futomaki
- Has own mobile application
- Vegan-friendly
Cons
- High volume of customers for dinner
- Long queue and waiting time
Customer Reviews
Excellent fresh food
“Good service, very intuitive and helpful staff. The food was excellent, very undervalued. Fresh sashimi is a major green flag. Would rate it slightly less than Yamamori but definitely highly recommend, same quality for cheaper price.” – Ahmed Hamed Aly
The best sushi
“They have the best sushi. When we were there, the staff accommodated us well. Although most seats/tables are reserved, they found a way to let us in and have our dinner. Great experience. Sumptuous Japanese food as well.” – Fritz M.
Affordable, tasty, healthy
“Small and cozy place where to eat Japanese food is always a pleasure for your soul and stomach. Location: Is located in the heart of North city center, if you go for shopping you can stop here easily. Staff: Good and polite enough. Food: Tasty and healthy for a good price. Is not fancy but have a very good flavours and combination of fresh food.
Overall: High recommended. My favourite dish there is the vegetarian bento box, and the salmon noodles. Note: Is vegan and vegetarian friendly as well.” – Maura Carola Tangara

Open everyday from noon to late night, Zakura Noodle & Sushi Restaurant has an extensive menu of real Japanese food and one of the best sushi servings in Dublin.
The reason Zakura made it to this list is its use of fresh high quality fish and seafood for its sushi and sashimi plates. As a matter of fact, its fish supply is replenished every morning to ensure freshness of raw dishes.
We’re not exaggerating if we say that we can taste the freshness of the fish from the Matsu Sushi Selection. All of the 10 nigiri sushi and the 4 sushi rolls are naturally rich in taste without any unpleasant smell.
Of all the rolls in Zakura’s menu, the Rainbow roll is our favorite due the complexity yet lovely combination of flavors or nearly every seafood. The roll has prawn tempura, avocado, salmon, tuna, seabass, eel sauce, among other spices.
When dining with children who aren’t into raw food, this restaurant has a children’s menu to have you covered. What’s more, allergy information is provided for customers with special needs.
In terms of ambience, though the place is small, it’s relaxing and has Japanese furniture. You may only have to queue or book a table to keep up with the queueing.
If we’re to choose one issue, it would be the change in food quality when it’s delivered. So if you want to try it here, we recommend going early to secure a dine-in spot.
Pros
- Authentic Japanese food
- Child friendly menu
- Provides allergy info to customer
- Great food presentation
Cons

“One of the best sushi places I’ve been to 🙂 The portions are huge, it’s impossible to eat everything, even though it’s very delicious, and I tried to finish it all! The [staff] is great, service is quick and pleasant. P.s. Order plum wine, it was so bomb. Tell you what, order two, right away.” – Natalie Volokhina

“My favorite sushi place. The food is just amazing in general, their rice and ramen are also very good. I just will keep going there because they have way to many options. I also ordered Deliveroo from them and the food just taste the same. The service is one of the best, the waiters are kind and do a great job. The music and the vibes are also really cool.” – Mareme Sady

“Exquisite, flavorful japanese cuisine, at very reasonable price. Booths can accommodate up to 6 adults. Great vegetarian options. Excellent sushi. No wine or Guinness. Only sake and Japanese beer.” – Mark Pitts

Musashi is a Japanese restaurant that has six branches in Dublin that are open daily. All of which seek to give foodies the best dining experience through its fresh dishes.
What sets this apart from other restaurants is its complete menu of sushi, rolls, and sashimi that’s available in all its branches every day! Based on its menu, there are 45 options for sushi, nigiri, maki, and house specials to choose from.
If you want to know our much-loved dish, try the deep-fried Tunado Roll that features crispiness from the blend of tuna, salmon, asparagus, batter, and teriyaki sauce and other spices.
Aside from that, we love the Salmon Tasting Platter that has a variety of your Japanese salmon cravings prepared based on each type of sushi. A surprise here is the smoked salmon with Philly cream cheese.
When dining here, it’s not only the tasty food that is enjoyable. The ambience is very much oriental-inspired and has enough space to accommodate its customers.
If we’re going to name one minor downside, it’s the menu that has no images and description for some items. Also, the customer needs to improve according to some previous regulars.
Still, the dishes are affordable and the servings are large. This is why Musashi is worth considering for your next meal.
Pros
- Extensive nigiri and maki choices
- Has multiple branches in Dublin
- Beautiful oriental ambience
- Open daily
Cons
- No food images on menu
- Customer service needs improvement

Best in Dublin
“Simply the best sushi and sashimi in Dublin, hands down. How do I know that? We’ve been to them all and this the only one where my vegetarian daughter and wife get not a trace of a taste of fish from their food ever. The kitchen must be fanatically fastidious and the fish (which I prefer) is always super fresh.” – Peppe Santoro
Great atmosphere
“Lovely little restaurant, tasty and fresh food. Great atmosphere, especially today that was playing classic blues. Friendly staff and good vegetarian options. Will definitely be back.” – Bran McHuge
Reasonable prices
“Very nice restaurant, reasonable prices, big menu and different options to choose from. Bento box was tasty. The service was very fast and the staff were helpful. I will definitely visit it again to try more.” – Ioannis Seitanidis

The winning factor of this restaurant is the perfect combination of fresh sushi and Thai spices for a superb Asian dining experience. Imagine going to Japan and Thailand for authentic food, that’s how it feels like eating here.
For us, we think the Kiku Sashimi Roll is the most worth it because of the variety of the 12-piece sashimi included along with the Chef Selection. We suggest adding Avocado Roll for a delightful balance of flavors.
If you want sushi with a touch of Thai spices, get a plate of the Red Dragon Roll. Surely, if you’re a fan of spicy food, you’ll enjoy the mix of fresh spicy tuna and fried leeks.
Aside from those mentioned, we like the generous nigiri options that include vegetable toppings. Even the futomaki menu has vegan options for our vegetarian friends!
We also commend the foods for the clean and picture-perfect presentation. This makes eating feel like witnessing a work of art in front of you. Not to mention, the staff are attentive to customers’ needs inside the restaurant.
However, the online delivery system is getting mixed reviews because of the very long waiting hours. Several items ordered weren’t prepared as requested.
Nonetheless, we like dining here because the sushi and sashimi dishes are perfect when paired with Thai spices.
