Pompeii Pizza stands out as an authentic Italian restaurant experience with a strong focus on traditional Neapolitan-style pizza. Their signature approach centers on light, thin pizza bases cooked in brick ovens, giving diners a classic wood-fired flavor that feels true to Italian culinary traditions.
One of the restaurant’s strongest qualities is its commitment to homemade preparation and high-quality ingredients. Pompeii Pizza makes its own dough and sauces in-house while using premium Italian Caputo flour to create a distinctive pizza recipe.
The menu offers a broad selection of traditional and modern pizzas, including Margherita Italiana, Quattro Formaggi, and spicy Nduja options. Customers who prefer plant-based dining are also well catered for with vegan pizzas and homemade soy-based vegan mozzarella, adding variety without compromising the restaurant’s Italian identity.
Another positive aspect is the restaurant’s focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients alongside imported Italian products. Suppliers such as Toons Bridge Dairy and Gubbeen Smokehouse contribute to pizzas that feel premium while still maintaining authentic Italian flavors and textures.
The atmosphere also adds to the experience, especially for customers looking for a relaxed Italian-style meal in Cork. Located within the historic Franciscan Well Bar area, the restaurant combines casual dining with the warmth and energy of a traditional wood-fired pizzeria.
Pompeii Pizza has earned strong praise from customers and online reviewers, with many highlighting the authenticity and overall quality of the pizzas. Reddit discussions and restaurant review platforms frequently mention it as one of the best Italian-style pizza spots in Cork, reinforcing its reputation among both locals and visitors.
However, diners looking for a broader Italian restaurant menu may find the experience more pizza-focused rather than offering a full range of Italian dishes such as pasta or seafood specialties. The restaurant’s popularity can also make it busy during peak dining hours, which may occasionally affect wait times and seating availability.

There are good vegetarian options, which is a big plus
“Great pizzas and a really nice overall vibe.
There are good vegetarian options, which is a big plus. I liked almost all the pizzas, but my favourites were the Quattro Formaggi (Four Cheese) and the Marinara, simple and done really well.
Beers are excellent, I usually go for the Chieftain IPA, and it never disappoints.
Would definitely recommend for pizza + craft beer lovers”

The best wood-fired pizza in Cork
“In a nutshell, the best wood-fired pizza in Cork. The pizza is Neapolotan style, and the dough and sauces are homemade. They have plenty of topings to choose from and the best options for vegetarian and vegan options. The vegan cheese is by far the best one in town, with a great texture. Pompèii Pizza is located.within the Franciscan Well pub, my favourite one, so you can pair your pizza with plenty of choices of beer 🍺”

The service also let us feel very welcome.
“We got referred by a waiter at Il Padrino who told us it was a lovely new spot and they did not disappoint! With a modest menu they still manage to have an option for every taste. Their selfmade pasta was delicious and the dessert was great. The service also let us feel very welcome. Definitely recommend!”

Premises very clean.
“Really enjoyed the ragu pasta. Sauce was very flavorful and the beef very tender. Tirimisu was great. The fact alcohol is not served doesn’t bother me. I’m easygoing and quite happy with a coke so long as the food is good. Staff welcoming and friendly. Vibe was nice and relaxed. Premises very clean. Definitely worth a visit. Already excited to come back and try more from the menu.”

Bocelli Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar has always been a popular choice among the locals and tourists in Cork when it comes to Italian restaurants. It’s located in a prime area and serves authentic Italian food—two things that make the experience better!
Some of the regular customers boasted about the open kitchen view wherein they could see how chefs prepared their food. They loved how it added to the experience and at the same time showed them that their food was always prepared fresh.
We also love that Bocelli accommodates the dietary restrictions of the customers. Just inform the staff if you want an ingredient gone from your dish so they can inform the chefs.
The place itself is spotless, which adds to the warm and cosy ambience. We love that you’ll feel like you can have a relaxing conversation while waiting for your food.
We want to commend the staff as well for being so polite. They’re very attentive as well and always ready to assist when you need them.
The only complaint we heard was that there were times when even if you booked in advance, the table would be occupied when you arrived. You would have to wait for them to finish eating before you could be led to your table, which wasn’t ideal.

Open kitchen system

You can see the open kitchen system that gives you more confidence that everything is prepared fresh in front if you eyes. I had Bruschetta with Goat chese and Basil, one of the best Bruschetta I ever had. The main was Seabass with Vegetables and baked potato, delicious. Central location
High calibre, superb food and waiting staff, lovely atmosphere and location very central. Picked the place at random, at quite short notice because partners birthday & they love Italian food and we’d had a hectic week prior. We were most definitely not dissapointed, it ticks all the boxes. Starters, mains (risotto) and desserts and wine were all excellent. Staff really polite and attentive but not over the top either, lovely balance Will definitely go back again!

The elegant set-up makes it ideal for such a purpose. Other than that, there’s also the attentive staff who are ready to help if you need them but don’t hover as well.

Attentive staff even if the restaurant’s busy
If you’re in Cork and want a good place to eat, go to Rossini’s. I went there with my friends, and even though it was really busy, they treated us great. The staff even helped us choose what to eat. I’d totally tell others to go there.

Italian-approved
I am an Italian living in Dublin and every time I come to Cork my partner wants to have lunch/dinner at Ristorante Rossini. I happily second that as this is a top quality restaurant. Not just the usual “Italian restaurant” you can find anywhere else. Everything is tasty and ingredients as fresh as you can dream. Today I have been surprised by a new pizza (new to me at least). The quality of the dough is the best you can get in Ireland and I already knew that. But today I tried “The Rossini”: ricotta cheese, pine nuts, fresh grapes (!) and roasted rosemary. What a well balanced pizza! Surprisingly good. Waiters and owner very attentive and kind. Lunch or dinner: don’t miss this place.

In fact, when you enter Luigi Malones, you’ll feel like you’re entering someone’s house because of the homey atmosphere. It’s spacious, but has that casual vibe that makes you feel welcome.
We just hope you bring a little patience with you if you arrive during busy hours. Food arrives slowly and the staff tend to mix up orders during peak time.
And by the way—we recommend trying the BBQ ribs if you come to Luigi Malones. We assure you that’s one culinary experience you’ll never forget!

Perfect for families
We had a great extended family lunch here yesterday. Fantastic service – we had coeliacs and vegetarians in the group and they took care to explain the options and how they keep the ingredients separate. The food was delicious, great range available for all ages and tastes. Really enjoyed the experience..

Kid-friendly menu
Excellent food and a bustling atmosphere in this Cork restaurant opposite the opera. We went with kids and the menu is really interesting with something for kids and adults to enjoy. My wife and I also had cocktails which were great too. The service was excellent as well. I would recommend it for families and adults alike. Kids’ pizzas are huge with plenty left over for breakfast! The adult portion sizes were generous too.

Prices are a little high but the food is worth it
Great dining experience at Da Mirco. I adored the fish of the day rocket leaves, and strawberries with focaccia. Prices are expensive. The staff is friendly and smiling. Staff recommendations were brilliant. Almond liquor at the end must try! Make a reservation beforehand.

Accommodating staff and owners
A good restaurant for families. They have good customer service and all of their staff are lovely and accommodating. Lines are long so you would need to come early if you want to visit this place. This place is very busy and never runs out of families that are eating. Buffalo wings are very good and I partnered it with their Nachos. My kids enjoyed their pasta. Overall a lovely place and is surely worth a visit
