Open everyday from 8:00 a.m. until late afternoon to evening, Sarsfield Street Café by Hook&Ladder is a must try brunch spot in Limerick for its great menu.

Sarsfield Street Café offers a very extensive breakfast menu that is fit for all types of diets. Whether you’re a vegan, a picky eater, or have a sweet tooth, you can choose from salads, eggs, cakes and waffles, burgers, and plates for brunch.

For those having their first meal later in the day, we suggest ordering the Farmers Fair from the Breakfast Classics. This is because it’s a loaded meal plate of sausages, Irish bacon, fried egg and toast, mushrooms, and vegetables for a needed energy boost.

The Wholley Guacamole is also an irresistible option for the fresh goodness of the guacamole that’s combined with a perfectly poached egg on top of a toast. Also, the café has many options of coffee, fresh juices, wines, and milkshakes.

Not only that, but there’s plenty of add-ons and side dishes that may be added to your meal, like berries, fries, chocolates, and other sweets.

Another reason why we chose Sarsfield Café is because it’s both vegan-friendly and child-friendly. There’s a separate kiddie menu and there are plenty of vegan and healthy food options.

However, customers may have to deal with long waiting times during peak hours because of the volume of customers. The food is also pricier than other brunch spots in the area.

Still, its great brunch selection makes this restaurant a worthy dining experience spot.

Pros

  • Variety of brunch meals
  • Many options of beverage
  • Plenty of add-ons and sides
  • Child and vegan friendly

Cons

  • Long waiting time
  • Pricey

Customer Reviews

Bright and cozy

Bright and cosy cafe, ideal for lingering, especially the bay window area. I enjoyed the breakfast bruschetta and tea – the eggs were scrambled well. Would have been better if there was accompanying salad and not just plain rocket leaves. French toast at another table looked good. Lovely staff too. Have to say brunch here cheered me up greatly on a gloomy morning.” – Ariel C.

Variety of drinks

… Really cool vibes, open kitchen making delicious food, variety of drink options (including morning Prosecco!). Would highly recommend for anyone stopping through Limerick and looking for a delicious meal in a comfortable friendly spot.” – Kevin McCabe

Nice welcoming decors

Loved this cafe, funky decor, nice music, beautiful Caesar salad, lovely spiced carrot cake, fab staff, especially Michelle, who is so lovely and welcoming. Unlike many cafes in Ireland, this one doesn’t have an old fat smell when you walk in…” – Thea Blakely

Located along Bedford Row, The Spitjack specializes in both brunch and dinner. Its brunch menu offers sumptuous healthy American and European breakfast plates, as well as simple toasts and pancakes.

If you’re the type of person who regularly includes eggs in their daily diet, Spitjack’s five Egg Benedict meal options and four Hearty Breakfast options have you covered.

For us, the best in the Eggs Benedict menu is the Smoked Royale because it’s a packed healthy brunch plate. It’s served with Ballycotton smoked salmon, two poached eggs, bacon dust, and toasted sourdough.

When you’re already “hangry”, the Full Jack plate of bacon, sausages, pudding, eggs, toast, and vegetables is a good try. In fact, it even has its own coffee or tea drink.

There are also vegan and cheesy toasts in the menu, as well as homemade buttermilk pancakes with berries, and Belgian waffles in case you’re a fan of sweet brunch meals.

In addition, each plate is a work of art because the food is beautifully presented and spotlessly clean without any sight of oil or sauce droppings. Not only that, but the interiors are very inviting for their bright and airy ambience.

If we’re to critique this place, one downside would be the inconsistent food quality – there are times that they are salty or cold. Also, the brunch is only until 3:30 p.m.

But because this place has a menu from breakfast to dinner, it’s open until night to serve you some of its specialties.

Pros

  • Has menu for all breakfast, lunch, dinner
  • Great eggs Benedict options
  • Lovely classic ambience
  • Appealing food presentation

Cons

  • Inconsistent food quality
  • Brunch menu until 3:30 p.m. only

The Buttery is a popular brunch restaurant in Limerick that also provides an al fresco dining experience to let customers enjoy the food with a great street view.

One factor that brought the Buttery on this one-of-the-best list is the availability of its brunch menu from early morning until late night. It also has group “crispy meals” in its evening menu if you want a shared snack.

We also like the slight variation in its breakfast menu everyday. If you ask us, go early during the weekends to have more options on their house special burgers and during evening for their healthy pastas.

We also won’t forget the awesome flavor combination of egg, guac, pico de gallo, homemade salsa, cheese, and jalapenos in its Breakfast Burrito. If you want another twist for this, The Buttery allows you to add pan-fried chorizo and a streaky bacon.

To add, the burger menu is just amazing because homemade ingredients like cajun spices blend are used. We just love the generous serving of the eight-ingredient Vegan Burger as a healthier burger option.

Because it’s a popular spot, we suggest that you double check your booking with the staff because the online booking system gets unreliable sometimes. Take note, there’s no delivery option also.

Still, we recommend this place because of its great menu of brunch meals and its long operating hours.

Pros

  • Has a menu for sharing
  • Brunch available all day long
  • Has al fresco dining
  • Unique burgers

Cons

  • Unreliable online booking system
  • No delivery

To get your day started with a nice brunch meal in a fancy place, House Limerick might just be the place you’re looking for.

Aside from being known for its dinner and cocktails, we love this place’s small but first-rate brunch menu of small plates, salads, sandwiches, and its classic mains.

As for the eggs menu, we love House’s Eggs Royale’s soft combination of smoked salmon, poached eggs, and English muffin.

One of the top choices for brunch is House’s West Clare Fish & Chips from fresh hake fish mixed with garden peas, lemon, and tartar sauce. This is not just a healthy meal, but it’s also a first class seafood dish that’s one of House’s specials.

We also like that its menu has a touch of Asian cuisine with its Korean Rice Bowl special of fried chicken and kimchi fried rice with vegetables. The mix of strong flavors will make you think of reordering this!

However, they don’t offer special promos at the moment. We suggest perusing through their website to find other affordable dishes.

We’d like to dine again here, though, just to experience its perfect eggs for brunch. We also have no complaints about its staff. They are very professional and helpful when attending to customers’ requests.

Pros

  • Perfect eggs dish
  • Generous servings
  • Lush interiors
  • Attentive staff

Cons

  • Can get pretty crowded during peak hours

If a splendid brunch in a relaxing place is what you’re craving for anytime during the day,  Story Cafe is just right along Denmark Street to host you.

What sets Story Cafe apart from the other brunch restaurants in Limerick is the good selection of both sweet and savory crepes.

We love the mouthwatering taste and texture of the Smoked Salmon Crep, as well as the combination of fresh salmon and cream cheese. The softness of the crepe and the fillings that almost melts in your mouth brings this dish to perfection.

Like the others on this list, Story Cafe has great vegan dishes like the Feta Crep, the Healthy One Wrap, and the Mediterean Salad. In addition, we also like the choices of healthy wraps using pulled pork, chicken, salmon, and fresh vegetables.

Moreover, we really appreciate how Story Cafe puts emphasis on a healthy diet by offering other healthy meal alternatives like the Bowl of Porridge with Fruits and the Granola-Yogurt bowl.

Not to mention, the vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate milkshakes are equally delectable and are served sizeably.

The only problem, though, is that the venue is small to accommodate roughly more than 50 individuals. Online ordering is also a little bit challenging due to technical issues with its site.

Overall, we considered this place because the dishes are affordable and the servings are big.

Pros

  • Uses fresh ingredients
  • Good crepes selection
  • Mouthwatering wraps
  • Has healthy breakfast bowls

Cons

  • Erratic online food ordering system
  • Small venue

Customer Reviews

Large and fresh servings

What a delightful place to start the morning! The cafe is absolutely adorable. The staff is energetic and friendly. The warm welcome we received left us beaming.  The meals are made fresh, the portions are large, and the prices are reasonable. You should definitely stop in for a quickly pasty & coffee to-go or stay a while for a heartier sit down meal.” – Holly Lin

Good food quality

Generous portions and tastes wonderful! Every plate I saw, mine and looking around at others’, the food looks amazing and quantity is great. The quality definitely beats some other pricier places. Everyone probably knows this as the place quickly became filled at 8ish, only a while after its 8am opening time. I had an amazing smoked salmon crepe. And can’t leave a comment without noting the chef’s playfulness, enthusiasm, and sense of humor.” – Angkana Huang
