The 5 Spa Hotels in Perth That ALMOST Made Us Forget Our Kids
Done with staying at basic hotels with limited relaxation facilities? Same here. I mean, if the best thing your chosen accommodation can offer is a different place to sleep and nothing else, I think it’s a rip-off.
Being a mum is a 24/7 job too, and so I make it a point to destress with my friends now and then. We don’t have the money or time to waste on unsatisfactory spa centres, so we’re pretty picky. If it’s not mum-approved by our group, we don’t go there.
Over time, we’ve made a great list here! So whether you’re a stressed parent, professional, or tourist, we’ve got you covered with these top-rated spa hotels in Perth, Scotland below.
How We Chose The Best Spa Hotels in Perth, Scotland
1. Dunkeld House Hotel

Address: Blairgowrie Road, Dunkeld
Phone: +44 1350 727771, [email protected]
If you want to relax like royalty, Dunkeld House Hotel is a fancy riverside 4-star option worth considering. Not kidding—we’re in awe that it’s actually once the holiday home of nobility, the Dukes of Atholl!
This spa hotel in Perth has plenty of services for your self-care weekend. Apart from the spa, we like the heated indoor pool and sauna.
Its sophisticated rooms feature basic amenities, like free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and coffeemakers. Only some balconies can offer you river views, though.
Still, we appreciate the floor-to-ceiling windows giving ample light and warmth as you chill on the 4-poster beds. A detached cottage is also available if you’re into that.
Should you want to do some sightseeing later, we’re stoked that it’s only 1.4 mi (2.25 km) from Dunkeld Cathedral and 3 mi (4.83 km) from The Hermitage.
However, the internet here can be faulty at times. Still, we feel you ought to steer clear of social media here anyway—even just for a day or two.
Stunning Hotel and Spa
“Set quietly by the river , with countless tracks in the woodland all around , a selection of beautiful lodges available to stay in or the stunning hotel and spa if you want to really unwind.”
– Ms. Maggie Parke, Google Review
Absolute Great Experience
“Went there as a bday treat with a friend, tried the gym, and spa was an absolute great experience fantastic place really good had great time chilling 😎 😀”

2. Crieff Hydro Hotel

Address: Strathearn House, Ferntower Rd
Phone: +44 1764 655555, [email protected]
Crieff Hydro Hotel is a 19th-century resort and spa in Perthshire that can give you more than relaxation—it’s also near a historic site! It’s only 2 mi (3.22 km) from The Famous Grouse Experience, the oldest working whisky distillery in Scotland.
Just remember to wait around 4 hours after drinking alcohol before you get a massage to maximise the therapeutic benefits.
Besides that, this spot is known for its adult-only Victorian spa. It’s great for us that babysitting services are among the complimentary perks too—because parents deserve some proper alone time!
We also love that there are loads of recreation facilities here, such as horse riding, quad biking, boating, and archery. Perhaps you can tire yourself out a little before getting a massage.
If you wish to stay, we recommend upgrading your room to get a minifridge. We also like that some rooms offer separate lounges with sofabeds and garden views. But if you want a cosier experience, why not go for the home or cabin with a kitchen instead?
That said, this resort can feel so big—this means longer walks between the areas! If you want to go to other amenities, we reckon it can get pretty tiring.
Attentive and Friendly
“We had afternoon tea at the hotel after a spa treatment. We loved the Scottish touch to the savouries! All the food was lovely, and service was very attentive and friendly. The overall setting of the restaurant was gorgeous. Very clean and pretty to look at, and the views are lovely. Best setting for an afternoon tea I’ve ever had. Great selection of hot drinks and regularly topped up. Would love to return, wish it was closer to home! Price was very reasonable, and we struggled to finish all the food, and left absolutely stuffed!”

Phenomenal Spa Treatments
“We had a truly exceptional stay. The spa treatments were phenomenal, and the staff’s kindness and accommodating nature stood out, with Margaret deserving special thanks for personalizing our experience so thoughtfully. The diverse bars and restaurants were everything we hoped for; we particularly enjoyed the Winter Garden for its delicious lunches and cocktails. Exploring the gorgeous, well-maintained grounds, especially the Victorian garden with its charming ducks and wild rabbits, was a delight. This is an ideal country retreat for both couples and families.”

3. Murrayshall Country Estate

Address: Murrayshall Rd, Scone
Phone: +44 1738 551171, [email protected]
Murrayshall Country Estate is a landmark country resort dating from 1664, so we believe it perfectly captures the beauty of rural Scotland.
It’s only a short drive from Perth city, so we reckon you can bask in a nice countryside getaway without too much trouble.
You can enjoy a good number of in-room spa treatments here. This includes massages, facials, and body therapies.
There are wellness packages if you want to save more as well. We also love that it provides access to nearby partner spas for full-day experiences.
As for the rooms, we like that they showcase a good mix of traditional decor and tartan (plaid textile design of Scottish origin) fabrics, while also having modern amenities like free Wi-Fi, TVs, and coffeemakers.
And if you’ve got the energy for it on the next day, we’re all for its outdoor activities! You can hunt, shoot, fish, and bike (for a fee).
Just keep in mind that since this is a countryside staycation, it doesn’t give a lot of public transportation access. Driving here is best, in our opinion.

4. Atholl Palace Hotel

Address: Perth Rd, Pitlochry
Phone: +44 1796 472400, [email protected]
As a VIP spa hotel in Perth, we think Atholl Palace Hotel just looks straight out of a fairytale! We bet you can really appreciate its Victorian grandeur with the Scottish Highlands scenery around.
It already includes a spa, gym, treatment rooms, and an indoor pool, so you can indulge in a holistic experience. If you want a visual break, you can also wander around the extensive gardens out here.
Besides its elegant rooms with scenic views and the usual amenities, we like the Turret Suites with the living areas.
If you want, you can also rent a separate manor house–you can choose either a room or the whole house! Some of the lodges have full kitchens too.
We think you won’t have to worry about the dining experience here either. Its on-site restaurant serves all 3 meals and afternoon tea.
Just one thing, though. Because of its hillside location, we noticed that some rooms might be harder to access—especially for guests with mobility issues.
Beautiful Spa
“We stayed at the Atholl Palace Hotel for a week during the annual Highland Tennis tournament. It was brilliant. We had a lovely room on the second floor with fabulous views. The room was very clean and had a superbly comfortable king size bed and a modern bathroom with separate bath and walk in shower. The food was great, we especially loved the Sunday lunch carvery and really enjoyed breakfast which was good quality, extensive and plentiful. Stunning views from the dining room too! We also loved all the lounge areas with it’s high ceilings, fire places and comfy sofas. We had great fun in the Stag bar, the singer on the Friday night had us up dancing. The Lavender Spa, is beautiful, I had a fabulous full body massage from Joanne and spent time in the relaxation room. The staff were all helpful and friendly, special shout to Ewan in the restaurant, Kate at breakfast and Kirsty in Customer Services. Location is wonderful too, Pitlochry is a lovely town and so much to do and see nearby.”

5. Bannatyne Health Club and Spa

Address: St Catherines Retail Park
Phone: +44 1738 448000
Business Hours:
- Mon-Fri: 6:00am – 10:00pm
- Sat-Sun: 8:00am – 8:00pm
Bannatyne Health Club and Spa is a modern spa and health club in Perth city. Though this isn’t your typical traditional hotel, this alternative option has a broad range of services that we believe can cover most spa needs.
For starters, we like its hot Lava Shells massages—it’s one of their most popular treatments! We feel this is ideal if you’re experiencing any aches, pains, or stress.
Other than that, there are 2 saunas, as well as steam rooms, spa pools, a relaxation room, and a swimming pool. We bet it would take hours before you can use them all.
We also appreciate that it partners with Elemis (a luxury skincare brand) for authentic, vibrant, active, and exotic ingredients that work well for detoxing and destressing guests.
But while you can stay here most of the day, you can’t do overnight stays because this still isn’t a hotel. It can get pretty busy during peak gym hours too, so it’s best to reach the staff beforehand to know the best times to visit.
Great Spa
“Great gym and spa… it’s like a second home to me. Friendly staff, friendly gym goers – polite, all ages, and not at all intimidating if you’re new. Pool is perfect size, and all the usual spa facilities. Fitness classes are easy to book on the app, and can usually get in. You can usually get on the gym equipment easily, too. In-house physios, and SmartPath individual coaching, great hot choc in the cafe bar drinks machine, and nice squashy sofas. Relaxed atmosphere and people go out of their way to be sociable and helpful. So much nicer than other gyms I’ve joined in the past. Free parking outside. Validate your registration number on the wee machine at reception. 😊👌”
– Ms. Sue Davina Watt, Google Review
Great Massages
“We had a couples spa day with massage. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We hadn’t done this before so we needed a few things explaining. Facilities were good and clean. Our massages were great and afterwards you can chill in a chill out area. Very relaxing and highly recommended”
