We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

We spent too many weekends at these 5 Corstorphine restaurants!

Had enough of overhyped tourist traps, pricey menus, or crowded queues? I know the feeling. All I want after a week of endless work is a great night out with my girls, but we’ve gone to disappointing places lately. All sizzle and no steak—sometimes literally.

But my friends and I didn’t let up. We made time to try at least one new dining spot per week. And since many of us lived in Corstorphine, we decided to start there.

We chewed through many options, but we believe our new list is worth the calories. So whether you’re a solo diner, part of a group, food blogger, or curious traveller, we’ve got you covered with these top-rated Corstorphine restaurants below.

How We Chose The Best Corstorphine Restaurants

Quality of Food/Drinks: We picked out the best Corstorphine restaurants by evaluating the preparation, taste, and overall quality of their food.
Menu: The restaurants we rated provide a wide array of options, from regular to special preferences.
Service: It was important for us that the staff were respectful, attentive, and efficient.
Ambience: We believe good ambience comes from the aesthetics or themes, mood lighting, music, and the like.
Cleanliness: These restaurants showcased cleanliness. Their staff were also usually hygienic in their cleaning and serving practices.
Value for Money: Food and drinks must be priced reasonably based on their quality and quantity. Having good deals is a bonus for us as well.
Location: We prioritised eateries in a central or convenient location. Ample parking and handy transport links helped too.
Wait Time: While delays can be inevitable, the staff must be quick on their feet to minimise them.

Got a craving for flavourful dishes? St John’s Curry Club is an Indian restaurant in Corstorphine offering authentic and creative South Asian dishes.

We love its affordable prices with big portions. If you’re new, we say try the chicken tikka masala (marinated and grilled), lamb Rogan Josh (from a Persian-influenced cooking style with oil and heat), or king prawn bhuna (spicy Indian curry).

If you want something to complement the savoury food, you can go for the mango lassi (yoghurt-based drink) or the Indian beers.

To save more, we think it’s smart to check its social media updates for early bird dinner discounts. There are group sharing platters at lower prices too, which we bet is convenient for a big crew.

And if you can’t get a seat? We like that it offers takeaways so you can still enjoy that traditional curry house comfort anywhere.

The only thing we want to improve is the dessert selection—there are only a few at the moment.

Pros

  • Flavourful South Asian dishes
  • Creative twists on traditional curries
  • Big portions at affordable prices
  • Early bird promos

Cons

  • Limited dessert menu

All Good

“Pakora, butter chicken, rice, poppadum, and naan were all good. One of the lamb dishes we ordered was tasty for the most part but the sauce was lacking, and there was an entire tomato (not chopped or blitzed) in it which was unusual and limited the flavour. Given that it was on the more expensive side of the options i was a little disappointed. Perhaps we ordered poorly – as everything else was good. Delivery was timely and friendly.”

– Mr. Andrew McClintock, Google Review

Amazing Takeaway

“Never dined in but takeaway food amazing. I have a special dietary requirement and they are so accommodating. Best of all, they are consistent. Portion sizes are far too big for me. So plenty left overs and as it’s so fresh, fine to heat up next day or freeze. Staff on phone are so polite and actually listens and re assures re dietary questions and so respectful. Very professional. Thanks St John’s”

Sometimes, you just want a proper burger, and that’s where Shakedown is for. Think American-diner-inspired comfort food when you’re really down or starved!

We like that its burgers come in all shapes and sizes. If your belly’s rumbling, you can go for beef or chicken, or thicker options as well.

It’s also great for us that there are loads of sides. Our go-to picks are the cheesy, fiery No’cho Nachos and the very ‘melty’ mozzarella sticks. Plus, we reckon the kids would love the waffles and shakes.

In addition, we think it’s handy that this dining spot is right on the main road. Pretty easy to find, especially when you’re in a rush, in our opinion.

But before coming in, we recommend looking at its online accounts for limited-edition specials or seasonal-themed shakes.

This place is very kid-friendly too, but that means it can get really noisy at peak hours. We feel its menu isn’t for those counting their calories either, so it’s best to ‘weigh’ your options beforehand (if you catch our drift).

Pros

  • Good location on the main road
  • Hearty American comfort meals
  • Wide burger choices
  • Kid-friendly spot and menu

Cons

  • Can get pretty rowdy
  • Not ideal for health buffs

A Place Worth Visiting

Those who want to paint the town red in Corstorphine would love Winstons for a night of tasty drinks and bad (or funny) decisions.

At first, we thought this was just a typical place to get a hangover. But when we heard that it won the ‘Beer Quality’ Award at the Scottish Licensed Trade News Awards (SLTN), we knew we couldn’t miss the chance to try its refreshing brews.

The way we see it, patrons wouldn’t get bored with its selection. It constantly changes its real ale roster. But if you’re not a fan of beer, we love that it offers numerous wines and spirits, too!

This spot has a fantastic range of whiskies and malts as well. And if your favourite whisky isn’t here, we appreciate that the staff practically guarantees they’ll have it on your next visit. But no matter your drink, we suggest ordering the steak pie to indulge.

We feel the live music and tasting nights are quite entertaining too. A bunch of local solo musicians shine here, so we reckon it’s a great place to expand your music taste.

Just one thing, though. This spot doesn’t seem to be the best place for vegetarians and vegans. Still, we reckon you’ll appreciate its many alcoholic options.

Pros

  • Award-winning brews
  • Wide range of alcoholic drinks
  • Entertaining live music nights
  • Occasional tasting events

Cons

  • Not ideal for veggie eaters and vegans

Excellent Beer

“Came in for a quick pint as I’d missed the bus, and was glad I had made the effort. Bar was quiet so it was easy find a seat and the beer was of excellent quality. It’s just off the main road, so it’s easily missed, but you’ll be happy that you made a visit. Recommended.”

– Mr. David Gilmour, Google Review

Very Nice

“Nice pub, went there for an evening beer. Was nice feel about it, and friendly people. We didn’t eat there.”

– Mr. Mark Jensen, Google Review

Many have been to a British dining spot or a Chinese restaurant, but have you been to both at the same time? Cool Jade is a unique option, offering the best of both worlds in a refined yet cosy open-plan space (takeaways included).

For the mains, we think the crispy duck or the sweet and sour chicken is a must-try. To end on a sweet note, we bet you and the kids would love the toffee banana fritters, too.

And if you loved it here, we’re stoked that it can accommodate big parties for birthdays and other celebrations.

We also appreciate the parking options. If you can’t park in the bus lane (within its set schedule), you can always park on Pink Hill—this one’s available 24/7 and is a 2-minute walk away.

Although, we did notice that the decor feels a bit dated if you compare it with newer eateries. Saturday and Sunday takeaways can be a hassle, too, so it’s best to drive by early if you’ve got a craving.

Pros

  • Unique mix of British and Chinese cuisine
  • Open-plan interiors ideal for parties
  • Several parking options

Cons

  • Older-looking decor unlike others
  • Busy weekend takeaways

First-Class Service

“Everything about Cool Jade was fabulous. First class service. Happy smiling staff. Really good generous servings. Comfortable, smart, polite…. all in all I understand why it’s v busy ! Wish I lived closer !”

– Mr. Walter McKay, Google Review

Plentiful and Delicious Food

“Beautiful decor! The food is plentiful and delicious, and the service is perfect. A wonderful discovery!”

– Mr. Eric Lavoie, Google Review

Society Bar & Kitchen is a modern open-plan bar (with a polish of a restaurant) in Corstorphine, offering a delightful combo of Scottish and global dishes.

This place offers casual dining, a lively bar, and delivery, catering to a wide range of dining needs and social gatherings—something for everyone.

When in doubt, we suggest ordering the fish and chips or gourmet burgers first. The desserts may look simple, but we think its cheesecakes and sundaes are spot on. There are also many cocktails, beers, and wines to choose from.

We bet you and your sports-loving crew would love to watch its screenings, too. It’s got big TVs and happy hour deals to keep everyone smiling.

Just note that the parking nearby easily gets full at weekends, so it’s wise to plan ahead if you’re the designated driver for the night.

Pros

  • Mix of Scottish classics and international food
  • With casual dining, bar scene, and delivery
  • Regular live sports screenings
  • Good happy hour value

Cons

  • Scarce weekend parking
