What we like most about Equipet is that it supplies virtually any pet-related item that any owner could possibly need. From dog food to fish tanks, it carries all these in-store and online.

Speaking of in-store, it has 2 shops in Cork: Blackpool Retail Park and Mahon Point Retail Park. Aside from those, it also has 2 other branches in Meath, so we don’t think location accessibility will be a concern.

If you’re on the hunt for a good deal, it has a clearance section where you can view all its marked-down items. Aside from that, it has discounts on selected items, too.

We like the convenience of being able to order online since you can easily pay online and have the items shipped to your door.

Speaking of payments, we appreciate that it has flexible payment methods. You can pay at checkout through Visa, PayPal, and Mastercard.

As for shipping, the shop also gets another brownie point from us for offering free nationwide deliveries for orders over €20. But if you live nearby, you can opt for its pick-up option instead.

Oh, did we mention that it’s open daily, too? This is great if you’re suddenly out of pet food or need more supplies ASAP.

So far, we’re pretty happy with its selection of items. To boot, it also offers pet grooming services.

However, we were alerted of minor issues concerning its customer service. In particular, we’ve heard quite a few complaints regarding the staff’s behavior.

It’s also quite a bit pricey, so be prepared to spoil your pet a bit if you’re shopping here.

Pros

  • Includes supplies for a wide range of animals like fish and birds
  • Free nationwide deliveries for orders over €20
  • Has 2 shops in Cork
  • Offers delivery and pick-up
  • Has an online store
  • Flexible payment methods available
  • Has clearance section and sale items
  • Open daily

Cons

  • Minor complaints about staff’s behavior
  • Quite pricey

Pet Plus offers a wide selection of products for dogs, cats, fish, and even reptiles. These range from pet food to accessories both online and in-store.

We also think it’s pretty convenient that it has 3 locations in Cork: Cobh, North Point, and Fermoy. So, no matter where you are in the metro, there’ll probably be a Pet Plus near you.

But if you’d rather stay home, all its items are available on its website, too. This way, you won’t have to leave the comforts of your home.

We also appreciate the standard shipping fee of €4.99. But if your order costs more than €50, shipping is on them, which is definitely a plus!

As for payments, you can pay online via Stripe using your credit card. We were just a bit bummed that it doesn’t offer any other online payment method aside from this.

On a brighter note, it does have a section dedicated to items that are on sale. So, if you’re on a tight budget, you may want to explore this part of its website.

We also found it handy that it has a number of articles on pet advice and tips. Those will definitely be helpful, especially for new pet owners.

Aside from that, it also offers pet grooming services in all of its shops. According to clients that we’ve gotten in touch with, their pets come back looking quite spiffy, so you may want to check this out, too.

We’ve also heard a number of positive things about its staff members. In particular, many past clients vouched for their friendliness and expertise in helping them choose the right products for their pets.

  • Includes supplies for a wide range of animals like fish and reptiles
  • Flat delivery fee of €4.99

If you’re looking for a one-stop shop, you may want to consider Petstop because it has a wide array of supplies for dogs, cats, fish, birds, and even reptiles.

By wide array, we mean nearly anything you can think of. This includes food, kennels, training aids, treatments, accessories, and ornaments, among others.

If you’re looking to save a few euros, a number of its products have discounts, too. Just because they’re on sale, doesn’t mean you’re not sacrificing quality either since some products are brand partners like Royal Canin.

Speaking of saving a few euros, this shop also offers free shipping across Ireland for orders above €20. If your order’s under that, it will charge a small postage fee of €5.25.

We also found it impressive that it claims to have 96% of orders delivered the next day. This’ll surely save the day if you’re running low on pet food.

If you’d rather collect your order yourself, you can do that, too. The shop will even try its best to have your order ready within 2 hours, to boot.

To add to its list of pros, it has flexible payment options. You can make payments via AMEX, GooglePay, ApplePay, Maestro, Mastercard, PayPal, and Visa.

However, we were a tad concerned about its customer service. In particular, we hear that its staff can be quite rude and unaccommodating.

Aside from that, we also heard from customers that we’ve gotten in touch with that the store itself is quite disorganized. So, this might be a cause for concern for some.

Pros

  • Open daily
  • Free nationwide deliveries for orders over €20
  • Includes supplies for a wide range of animals like fish and reptiles
  • Has section for items on sale
  • Has an online store

If great deals are part of your criteria, you may want to check out Pet Essentials. It has new special offers every week, which is definitely a steal if you ask us!

Its range of supplies covers dogs, cats, fish, and reptiles. To boot, it carries over 1,500 lines in stock, too, so you’ll definitely be spoiled for choice here.

That said, we’re quite happy with what we’ve seen so far as selection goes. However, we do think that the store is a bit small in size, but that isn’t too big of a concern for us.

We also found it impressive that you can give it a ring and have it reserve anything you’re eyeing purchasing. We think this is pretty handy as you can simply call and have items ready for pick-up.

But, if you’d rather get your order delivered, the shop offers free delivery in the local area. We were a bit confused since it doesn’t elaborate on the extent of the “local area,” which we think could be helpful.

On a brighter note, we think it’s worth mentioning that it has a dog parking spot at the front. That’ll definitely come in handy for dogs that would prefer to wait outside rather than roam around the store.

As for its customer service, we hear that it’s stellar. Hence, it’s no surprise that the customers we’ve gotten in touch with had no reservations recommending this store.

The staff is known to give solid advice on dietary requirements and will even give you a number of recommendations.

Pros

  • Includes supplies for a wide range of animals like fish and reptiles
  • Free delivery in the local area
  • Has section for items on sale
  • Has an online store

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • Needs more information on delivery

Customer Reviews

Would recommend the shop to anyone

“A small pet store located in Carrigaline. The store may be physically small in size compared with the bigger competitors , but they make up for it with the range of products available, friendly and professional staff. There is enough parking space in the industrial estate and there is also a dog parking spot, for those dogs that are comfortable staying outside the shop. The shop offers free weight checks and provides advice on dietary requirements for your pet. I would recommend the shop to any one living near Carrigaline village.” -Sunil Kurup Krishnankutty

Always friendly and helpful staff

“Great local business, always friendly and helpful staff. Better range and prices than the big chain pet shops. Loads of cat stuff and huge variety of food – a bonus when you have a house full of cats with different tastes! Own brand grain free food for dogs is also excellent. Love it :)” -Maité Jossels

Bec’s Pets is a small business that’s open daily. This means that you can stop by any day of the week for pet food, accessories, and more.

Its supplies cater to dogs, cats, and even reptiles. We hear it even sells axolotls, so you’ll definitely find something for even the most unorthodox pets.

We think Bec’s Pets’ most noteworthy feature would be its involved owner, who, according to customers we’ve gotten in touch with, often gives customers a hand when shopping.

Apart from that, we’ve heard a ton of other great things about the rest of the staff, too. In particular, they’re known to be friendly and accommodating to pets and owners alike.

Focusing on the online store, we like how easy it is to navigate and purchase goods. However, we do think that its selection is quite limited.

As for shipping, the store has a flat delivery fee of €5.99. But if your order total exceeds €50, you can enjoy free shipping.

If you’re looking to save a few euros or live nearby, you can also opt to collect your order yourself. Simply select this collection method at the online checkout.
