Spending a bit on a quality office chair is a wise investment, especially if you’re going to spend a lot of time sitting on it.
It means you can work in comfort and comfort while working means increased productivity.
What are the best office chairs in Ireland? We’ll tell you not just what, but where you can buy them. We’ll also share with you how much each costs, plus a few other stuff you need to know in buying one.
How Much Do Office Chairs Cost in Ireland?
Some office chairs cost more than others. Some look similar but are different in functionality.
There are many factors that drive the cost of office chairs and we’ll dive a bit deeper into them in this section.
By components, we mean the cylinder or gas lift, casters, wheels, mechanism, foot ring, frame, etc.
How do these things affect the chair’s price?
A low-quality cylinder will have a limited height adjustment range and hold, whereas a quality chair will allow you to adjust it to an ergonomically correct position.
2. Recline Function
There are office chairs that can’t be reclined at all. It’s one of the cheapest you will find in the market, for obvious reasons.
For those that can be reclined, you can choose from the following:
- Centre tilt tilts the backrest but lifts off your feet from the floor.
- Synchro tilt tilts the backrest but keeps your feet level to the floor.
- Weight-sensitive tilt adjusts the backrest depending on the weight of the person sitting down. It doesn’t need a locking function—the chair will do it for you.
Your skin will be in contact mostly with the upholstery, so you’ll have to pay attention to this too.
- Fabric is what’s commonly used in office chairs.
The double rub count measures how durable a fabric is. The higher the count, the more durable (and expensive) it is.
- Leather is often used in high-end office chairs.
It’s easier to clean than fabric, but it’s quite pricey. Some of the high-end ones cost even more than the chair itself!
- Vinyl, also called faux or bonded leather, looks a lot like leather except it isn’t. It’s a lot cheaper, and low-end ones are known to peel when it wears.
- A popular material used in office chairs, mesh gives the airflow that vinyl and leather couldn’t.
There are so many types of mesh and it comes with a huge price gap. But generally, low-end mesh doesn’t stretch and wears out quickly while high-end ones are elastomeric and can last for over 10 years.
And now, for the prices. We’ve chosen the most affordable to some of the most expensive kind of chairs from each of the stores we’ve picked for our list:

The Best Office Chairs in Ireland
We admit: it was hard to choose only a few chairs for our list. There were a lot of choices and a good number of them are really good chairs.
But alas, “really good” can’t do. So we raised the bar even higher and picked only the exceptional ones with reasonable prices.
Here are our top picks:
1. 24-Hour Office Chair ALTON
|485 -585 mm
It looks like an ordinary office chair, but ALTO is a 24-hour office chair that packs quite a punch.
It’s heavy-duty and can withstand being sat on for 24 hours. That’s why a lot of offices with 24/7 operation use this kind of chair. It’s truly heavy-duty.
Most 24-hour chairs are expensive because of this. Depending on the materials used and other additional features, this chair can reach the $2,000+ price range.
It’s a little out of reach, to be honest. And if you’re like the rest of us who don’t want to fork thousands of euros for a chair, ALTON is a practical alternative.
We think its price point of €349 is reasonable, considering you’re getting a 24-hour chair with lots of good features.
The seat slide and lumbar pump allow you to change the shape of the backrest to specifically fit yours.
It also has an asynchronous mechanism so you can adjust the tilt of the backrest and seat independently of each other. This way, you can vary positions you find most comfortable.
You can’t find that feature in ordinary office chairs, which is what we love about 24-hour office chairs.
Sadly, it doesn’t have a headrest. But the rest of the parts can be adjusted: depth and height of the seat, backrest and armrests. Which we think is pretty cool.
2. Berta Executive Office Chair
The support of a chair wouldn’t be complete if it doesn’t have a headrest. Not all office chairs have that feature, but this one does.
Berta is a high-end executive office chair that offers both neck and back support.
But what we like most about it is, the headrest is not just adjustable, it’s also padded to make it extra comfy. You can say bye-bye to neck pain once you use this chair!
Like the 24-hour chair, you can also adjust its seat and backrest at the same time. It has a gas lift for the chair’s height adjustment, too, all of which we think are great features.
But one other thing that caught our eye is how it looks. Call us vain, but who says your office can’t look a little flashy?
The backseat is made of mesh with an aluminium frame and black armrests, which in our opinion, is perfect for the green seat and headrest. A chair like this can certainly add a bit of colour to your office if it’s looking a little boring!
We just wish the armrests weren’t fixed in place.
3. HAG EXECUTIVE CHAIR H05 5600
|390-530mm, (150 mm lift)
|11° forwards and 15° backwards from neutral position
|200 – 280mm
If movement and variation are the things you’re looking for in an office chair, HAG Executive Chair H05 5600 fits the bill.
The idea behind its design is simple: to provide balanced rocking and movement.
It follows your every move and stops when you do. The chair’s designers believe this promotes fresher thinking and improved circulation—which, in the era of remote work, we all need!
HAG Executive Chair H05 5600 has several other key features that justify the price.
One, although it’s not a 24-hour office chair, it’s approved for 24/7 use. Two, both the height and width of the armrests can be adjusted.
Three, the shape of the backrest is designed for lumbar support. And it’s also fully upholstered.
Four, you can adjust the backrest separately for individualised back support.
That’s quite a long list of features. But the best part is, if for some reason you’re still not satisfied with these, you can further customise it.
You can modify the armrest so that if you feel they’re in the way, you can rotate them away, all the way behind the chair! This will allow you to sit sideways and move closer to your desk.
If you prefer to have a headrest, that can also be added. The headrest can also be fully upholstered if you want.
Get to know what the people who have bought HAG Executive Chair H05 5600 think about this chair:
“I love the chair, especially the headrest. The only problem is I could end up nodding off 🙂 – Leo D., KOS Ergonomics Website Review
“The movement on it is really cool. I used always sit with my seat locked and never move it but with this chair I’m always switching between positions, It’s the best ergonomic chair I’ve ever sat on” – Bobby B., KOS Ergonomics Website Review
4. Duorest 2.0 Ergonomic Office Chair with Adjustable Curved Headrest
|Breathable moulded foam
Most ergonomic office chairs have backrests that can be adjusted and tilted back, but Duorest 2.0 Ergonomic Office Chair takes it a notch higher.
We think this chair is special because it’s equipped with a smart back system, a German technology that has revolutionised the way we sit.
It’s not just the depth and height of the backrest that can be adjusted, but the width too. And it can be done easily using a control dial.
Even the chair’s headrest has been thoughtfully made. We know it wasn’t just shoved in there. The curved headrest angle allows adjustments to follow the user’s neck movement.
They’ve even thought of protecting your floor from scratches and minimising noise by using double-layered urethane casters.
There are many other things we like about this chair: adjustable armrests, changeable/washable seat pan cover, and adjustable seat depth. And all these for just a little over €400!
These customers are more than happy to recommend Duorest:
“Duorest 2.0 – absolutely brilliant chair! Height adjustment, armrest in curved path, synchronous tilt control, seat depth adjustment, curved path headrest adjustment – 2.0 office chair! Top class quality chair.” – Martina, Huntoffice Website Review
“I work out of my home so my office chair has to fit me just right-I’m 5’6” (female) so I like to have support in my lower back at all times. I love the way the back support mechanisms cradle my back during long conference calls-and the upper head rest to give my entire body the right support the entire day. I’ve gone through so many of the “basic office” chairs and even after a few weeks, the chairs would squeak, wobble or already feel like they were falling apart. I would recommend this no problem. (And yes, easy for even me to assemble, and that says a lot)” – Christopher Maas, Amazon Review
5. Avior Lucania High Back Task Chair
|W540 x D510mm
|W645 x H510mm
It looks like a solid office chair. And it is, actually.
The Lucania Task Chair is ideal for heavy-duty use. So if you need something that can endure usage in multi-shift environments, this chair is the perfect fit.
It offers the versatility of an asynchronous mechanism. So whether you’re short or tall, light or heavy, you can tilt and adjust the seat and backrest until you find the perfect comfortable position.
The backrest is high, which is good for back support. The arms, adjustable, but it would have been better if the width can be adjusted too.
So far, so good. Now for the extras.
The first extra we like about this chair is the ultra-thick padded seat. It gives the chair a look of solidity, no explanations needed.
You instinctively know it won’t give no matter how heavy you are even if you plop down on it. It’s super comfortable too.
It’s also accessible for a wider range of users since it can support sitters of up to 150 kg.
Another special thing about the Lucania Task Chair is the wheelbase.
You know how some chairs seem to resist going with you when you try to roll to whichever direction you want to go? Well, Lucania has a 5 wheelbase for excellent manoeuvrability, so that definitely won’t be a problem if you buy this chair.
Where Can I Buy These Office Chairs in Ireland?
Now that we’ve sifted through hundreds of office chairs and picked the best yet affordable ones, we’ll tell you where you can buy them below:
1. Harvey Norman
|office chairs, appliances, technology, gaming and toys, furniture, homeware, outdoor, garden and DIY
|Unit 421, Blanchardstown Retail Park, Blanchardstown, Co. Dublin, D15 AW70, Ireland
|(01) 824 7400
|Mon – Sat, 9:30am – 6:00pm
Sun, 11:00am – 6:00pm
Harvey Norman offers 37 office chairs to choose from.
Compared to others, that’s not a lot of choices. But we decided to add Harvey to this list because they have some of the cheapest but quality office chairs in the market.
While other companies offer ergonomic chairs at a minimum of €199, you can get them from Harvey’s at only €159, or even lower if it’s entry-level.
Some of their office chairs are on clearance sale, so you might want to check them out too.
They also have other stuff you might need for your office and home: desks, computers and tablets, furniture, mattresses, tv.
We like shopping (who doesn’t, right?). But we don’t like going outside lately for fear of catching the virus.
And while online shopping is a lot more common now, Harvey Norman doesn’t just offer any online shopping—they have 3D virtual shopping. You can explore their stores as if you’re actually there, but without leaving the safety of your home.
They even have a measuring tool so you can check the dimensions of the desk or sofa you want to buy. That way you’d know beforehand if the furniture fits your space.
If you don’t like online shopping, you can use it to locate items you want to buy and make sure it’s in stock before heading out, which we think is pretty neat.
Delivery is nationwide, but it isn’t free though. At least they don’t charge additional VAT.
And unlike other companies with crappy customer service when it comes to returns, refunds, exchanges and cancellations, it’s normally processed at Harvey’s in just 7 days.
These Harvey customers can attest to how great their customer service is:
“Great place to shop. Competitive pricing. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Have bought small and large items from here and have been happy with all purchases. Delivery of larger items is easy to arrange and installation is quick, efficient and the
installation staff are nice and friendly.” – Danielle Whelan, Google Reviews
“I would like to express how outstanding the customer service I received at the photo centre in Blanchardstown today. David Mann was extremely helpful and professional and gave exceptional customer service. Working customer facing myself I feel it is
vital to give good feedback when deserved.” – Grace Parker, Facebook Reviews
2. AJ Products

|B4 Network Enterprise Park, Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow, A63 F803, Ireland
|(01) 2811 700
|Mon – Fri, 8am – 6pm
AJ doesn’t have a wide range of office chairs, but they do have the 24-hour kind. Not all companies sell this chair type and it’s great that AJ is carrying several of it.
They have high-end, which we admit is pretty steep. But they have affordable ones that go in the €300+ range.
Aside from office chairs, they also have storage cabinets, lighting, bookcases, wall clocks and other office accessories. It’s a plus that you don’t need to go anywhere else to complete the interior of your office.
AJ offers office package deals too, so if you’re looking to buy in bulk for your office or home, you may find a good deal here.
We think it’s a thoughtful gesture that you can buy your chair with a desk. We know how annoying it could get to find the perfect chair only to find it doesn’t really fit your desk. So there.
AJ delivers all throughout Ireland for free if your purchase is over €199. That saves you more or less €10, which isn’t bad.
Big items are shipped flat-packed though, to save costs. But they can assemble it for you if you like, for an extra charge.
All their items have a 3-year warranty to protect customers from manufacturing defects. If you find your item is defective, you can return, refund, change or cancel the order subject to terms and conditions.
These customers are happy to share their experience in purchasing supplies from AJ:
“Excellent service. Very fast delivery with great communication. Very happy with all my office products from AJ Products. Would highly recommend.” – Gemma Hayes, Google Reviews
“I received the desk in the time promised even during the covid-19 crises, furthermore, I couldn’t set the table properly and the company sent a person that kindly set the table
correctly to us. I’d buy again, definitely.” – Pedro Weissheimer, Trustpilot Reviews

Just like what their name suggests, KOS Ergonomics is big on everything that can make the office, well, ergonomic.
They have a wide range of chairs on offer, from medical and laboratory chairs to height-adjustable desks and keyboards and mice—all ergonomically designed.
In that sense, your search is easier because it has been cut down to supplies that have been designed for efficiency and comfort at the same time.
That’s the first thing that made us choose KOS Ergonomics. In a way, we can consider them as a sort of specialist—an office chair specialist, if we dare say so.
While office chairs can be shopped based on price and colour and brand from other companies, theirs can be shopped by solution.
For them, there’s a chair solution for every pain you have ever experienced while sitting: a chair for back pain, a chair for neck and shoulder pain, a chair for leg and ankle pain.
We think that’s unique and goes straight to the heart of what truly matters when buying an office chair.
Of course, quality always comes with a price. So, we’re not really surprised their cheapest ergo chair is in the €300 range.
But if you really think about it, it’s a small amount to pay if it means years of working,
So if you can afford it, we won’t hesitate to tell you to choose from their catalogue. We
think it’s worth it.
It’s not just chairs they’re offering but other ergo products too: beds, mattresses, mice, keyboards and other IT solutions.
They even have workstation exercises and other pain relief tips for improving posture on their website, so do check them out.
You can hear it straight from their customers who had been having problems with pain:
“I am just writing to say thanks for allowing me to “test sit” the RH Logic 400 chair. As I informed you previously to my numerous back problems, resulting from fracturing a couple of vertebra in my lower back a number of years ago. This later caused discs to
slip, trapping nerves leaving me in extreme discomfort when sitting for long periods.
The result to date is as follows, the sciatica that I experienced before has diminished, and stiffness form getting up from sitting for long periods has disappeared. The support the chair offers for an individual shaped like myself is impressive. The fact that
the chair can be personalized for each user and the number of articulations/adjustments
available for different tasks while sitting at the desk really brings the whole thing together. After a week of use I have decided to keep the chair. I would highly recommend this chair over all the others that I looked at.” – Karol F, Website Review
“The new office chair has made a big difference. Between it and the physiotherapy sessions I have had, the upper back-pain has disappeared.” – Don, Website Review

And yes, they also have 24-hour office chairs, so yay!
Their prices on branded office chairs are competitive too—which is great. But we like that they have non-branded alternatives to provide their clients similar features of branded ones at a reasonable price.
Another thing that makes them stand out in our opinion, is their 24-hour operation. That’s right — in-store shopping is available day in and day out.
A company as big as Huntoffice operating 24/7 to make it more convenient for their customers means their customers are at the center of what they do. We definitely like the sound of that.
However, they don’t seem to have same-day delivery like other companies, which is a bit of a letdown. But they do deliver within 1 working day, which we think is good enough.
All these, plus their exceptional customer service make us confident in recommending Huntoffice.
You can see Huntoffice’s excellent customer service reputation from what their previous customers say about them:
“Wonderful service, fast and reliable and the staff on the other end of phone are so lovely. I ordered at 4pm and had my stuff at 11am the next day. Great company” – Laura Williams, Google Reviews

Finding the Right Office Chair for Your Intended Purpose
There are many types of office chairs, so think: what will you use the office chair for?
It’s important to determine this because if it’s just for the waiting room of your office, you certainly don’t need all those high-tech back chair adjustments and locks!
Check out the different types of office chairs you can buy in Ireland and where they are used below:
It’s known as the boss’s chair, but really, it’s not all about seniority and image. It’s more about comfort.
Executive chairs are bigger than regular office chairs. They also have a high back for extra upper body support.
And because it has the reputation of being your senior’s chair, it often comes in more formal designs. Makes the one sitting on it look like someone you can’t trifle with!
It’s a desk chair, but highly specialised. It coaxes the body to an upright posture so that the weight of the body doesn’t sit on the shoulders.
This promotes productivity without making your back and shoulders ache like a desk chair does!
Meeting / Conference Chairs
Conference chairs are somewhat a cross between a task chair and a desk chair. It has padded seats and fixed arms to provide support, but lacks the ergonomic adjustments of a task chair.
This is so knob-fiddling and other distractions during meetings can be avoided. That makes a lot of sense, come to think of it.
A lot of offices nowadays have an open design, mainly to cut construction costs.
Because pod seating is like a couch with a really high back, it gives your office the privacy needed for meetings. Kind of like a room within a room!
24-Hour office chair
A 24-hour office chair has all the ergonomic adjustments needed for the ultimate personalised comfort a chair can provide—high back, memory foam and even lumbar support.
It was named that because it’s often used in control rooms, call centers and offices where it’s constantly sat on by different employees for 24 hours.
