Michael Cunneen & Sons Locksmith is a separate company as evidenced by their own PSA license number on PSA’s website.
Catering to both residential and commercial clients, they offer the following services and products: key cutting, fire exit locking systems, lock replacement, installation, and repair, safe, Yale night latch locks and cylinders, and so on.

We haven’t seen other locksmiths claim to have expertise on such, so you can check them out if you wish to keep using your older keys.
However, we don’t think we can recommend them for emergency services as you can see from their working hours.
On the other hand, their hotline is available 24/7, so it’s worth a shot to call them if you ever find yourself in an emergency. It would’ve been better if they clearly indicated whether they offered emergency services, though.
It’s also unfortunate that they didn’t mention any automotive locksmith services.

How to Choose a Locksmith
Availing of locksmith services may not be as frequent as availing of other types of services, like cleaning, for instance.
However, there will most probably come a time when you’ll need one, so here are a couple of tips you can follow to help your selection:
The Private Security Authority is in charge of “licensing and regulating the private security industry in Ireland,” including locksmiths.
So it’s a no-brainer to avoid locksmiths who are not registered by the said statutory body. To verify, you can check out this link, which will redirect you to the PSA’s list of registered contractors.
However, if you can’t find a locksmith using its company name or license number, don’t immediately assume they’re unregistered.
For instance, Keyfast Locksmiths won’t appear in the register if you type in that name. Try “Keyfast” instead.
It’s a good idea to pick locksmiths that offer 24/7 services. Who knows? The first locksmith service you avail of may not be for an emergency, but what if the next one is?
In other words, you can just call the same locksmith again. That way, you won’t have to go looking for someone else.
Inquire about service coverage as well. Cork is Ireland’s largest county, so make sure they operate in your area.
- Service costs
Be very detailed when you inquire about service costs. Aside from their labour, what about callout charges?
Ask about fees for work beyond office hours. Most likely, it’ll be pricier. What about the payment options they accept? Can you pay in cash, by cheque, PayPal, etc.?
Lastly, inquire about their policy for services that weren’t successfully carried out (e.g. unopened lock, safe, etc.).
