In terms of amenities, reasonable membership fees, and equipment, Go Gym has them all! Whether you’re a newbie in working out or already a regular gym goer, you’ll find this gym to have everything you need.

For one, it has various gym equipment available for whatever fitness goal you have. It has cardio equipment, dumbbells, fitness weight machines, squat racks, spin studios, Hammer strength and Strive plate loaded machines, and lifting platforms!

We also like that it has several fitness classes available for you to choose from if you’re not familiar with handling gym equipment. There’s HIIT, spinning classes, and kettlebells among others.

We think the ladies will love this—the gym has a women’s only area called Go Gym! It might feel intimidating to work out with men because they have a different training regimen, so they’re usually at the Elite gym for the heavier weights and equipment.

We think you’ll also appreciate that Go Gym has branches all across Ireland! You can check out the site for a branch near you so you don’t have to travel far.

This isn’t exactly a huge deal, but we think you’ll be a little disappointed as well like us—Go Gym has no pool. It would have been nice to take a dip after a strenuous workout or class, but at least the gym makes up for it because of its facilities!

Pros

  • Friendly staff
  • Various gym equipment available
  • Friendly atmosphere
  • Rarely gets crowded
  • Has women’s only area
  • Well-maintained and clean amenities
  • Lost of space to move around
  • Spotless shower and sauna

Cons

  • Some equipment need to be updated
  • Reception area is unmanned at times
  • No pool

Customer Reviews

Has great selection of equipment for different types of training

Great selection of resistance training equipment, free weights, women’s only area, friendly staff, barber and hairdresser, beauty salon, cross fit area, all round pretty good. Aircon is useless however so expect savage heat in the summer. — Stephen Maher, Google Reviews

Clean and well-maintained facilities

Amazing gym, really friendly staff, helpful and polite. Tried a class in the morning and loved it. Has loads of equipment but I stuck to my usual favourites so not sure how good the others are yet. Place is kept in good nick which is hard to find nowadays. Definitely worthwhile, will be back. — Sadhbh M Hull, Google Reviews

In terms of atmosphere, we think St. James Gate Health and Fitness Club is one of those gyms in Ireland that are leading the race. General staff, instructors, and personal trainers—they all give off the supportive vibes that encourage you on your goals!

In fact, it’s the main reason why the gym gained a lot of patrons. Some of them told us that losing weight and keeping healthy had been a struggle for them, but having encouraging trainers and co-gym goers helped them push themselves.

It also helps that the gym has well-maintained equipment and facilities—everything’s clean and functioning. It even has a large pool and a sauna you can enjoy if you’re up for more!

There are also plenty of fitness classes like HIIT, yoga, spinning, strength and conditioning, and pilates among others. You can choose what suits you best, and there are competent instructors to help you get through with it.

Probably the only thing you’ll complain about St. James is that it offers limited fitness classes. But we think you’ll love the fact that the available classes have great instructors and are spot-on with their goals!

Also, make sure to check with the gym regarding closing hours if you’ll be going late. There are times St. James changes the time without informing patrons beforehand, and it’ll be inconvenient for you to go there just to find out it closed early.

Pros

  • Friendly and supportive atmosphere
  • Attentive and encouraging trainers
  • Various classes available
  • Convenient location
  • Comfy and clean
  • Has a pool and sauna
  • Well-maintained amenities
  • Has secure lockers (needs a euro coin)

Cons

  • Changes closing time without informing members
  • Small gym that gets overcrowded
  • Limited classes

Customer Reviews

Perfect for individual or groups

Been a member of the gym for over a year now. It is a great place to attend as an individual or with the family! The club is located conveniently in the Dublin 8 area and has the best value for money. It opens quite early at 6:30 so you can attend in the morning and it closes late so evening exercise is also available. The staff is really lovely. It is never too crowded so I find it much better than other gyms. Plus the biggest bonus is the amazing 25 metre swimming pool with the deepest point of 3.5 metres! It has a sauna and steam room. There are many different classes available which is really popular.— Slav Zlobin, Google Reviews

Has amazing classes, but needs more options

Great little gym with a fantastic team. They’re super supportive and efficient, and they make the gym feel like a welcoming place. Big thumbs up to them! The classes are on point. Wish there were more options, but the ones available are fantastic. The instructors really know their stuff, and I always leave feeling like I got a solid workout.

Can’t forget to mention the swimming pool, steam room, and sauna. It’s a nice setup you’ve got there. Perfect for some post-workout relaxation. Thanks for creating such a cool gym.— Tatjana KS, Google Reviews

Icon Health Club is on our list of the top gyms in Ireland because of several reasons. However, the thing that stands out to us the most about it is its strict safety measures.

According to its regular patrons, the staff are very attentive and are always on the lookout for malfunctioning equipment or mishaps. They also appreciate that the instructors monitor the students in the classes to avoid missteps.

Another thing—we’re happy that Icon Health Club knows how to maintain its facilities and equipment. Everything’s well-polished and clean so that you don’t have to worry about hygiene.

We all appreciate a facility that ensures its clients’ safety and well-being. It makes you feel well taken care of.

The personal coaches and class instructors are also worth commending. They’re not only supportive, but they give out instructions clearly and even demonstrate them to make sure the guests understand what they need to do.

For convenience, we think you’re also going to love the gym’s mobile app! It’s a point-based system that allows you to get free merchandise and also allows you to book schedules in advance—very efficient!

Just a little detail worth noting—Icon Health Club has a strict cancellation policy. Make sure you’re committed to your schedule or else you can say goodbye to the pricey membership fee!

Pros

  • Plenty of modern equipment
  • Wide range of classes and equipment
  • Well-maintained and clean facilities
  • Supportive coaches
  • Lots of space around
  • Welcoming atmosphere
  • Point-based mobile app to book classes in advance and get free stuff
  • Strict safety measures

Cons

  • Strict cancellation policy

Customer Reviews

Has a very useful mobile app you can use for booking

… They also have a very handy mobile app where you can book classes 3 days in advance, and a lot more! For example, you can set yourself goals and record workouts in order to meet your targets. It may sound silly but personally it helps me stay motivated. You also earn points every time you set a goal and every time you actually go to the gym (you have to scan in), and then when you have enough points you can get merchandise or other stuff. Overall, extremely happy with Icon and especially their Body Combat classes.— Ana Teresa Pereira, Google Reviews

Various classes available

Love the variety in classes and the instructors really monitor everyone in the class and ensure we are all doing the different moves correctly and safely. It’s an extremely clean gym, shower and locker area included. Handy location and flexible hours. And a sauna and steam room, always a bonus. — Sinead Murphy, Google Reviews

Fyre Gym is one of those modern Irish gyms that have unique and up-to-date equipment and classes. Whether you’re into CrossFit, Weight training, or Cardio, this gym is perfect for a visit!

In fact, according to some clients, what they love most about the gym is its great facilities. Everything necessary for your goals—from a beginner to the more advanced—you can find it here!.

The classes themselves are well-ran by expert instructors. We also love that said classes have such a supportive atmosphere that you don’t only improve your physical well-being, but you’re also enjoying them as well!

Another thing we appreciate is that even if you’re not a member, it’ll be easy for you to use the facilities and equipment. There’s an easy walk-in process—just fill out a form, pay, and then you can go on with your workout.

This is probably the reason why the gym tends to get overcrowded though. So we recommend going at non-peak hours to avoid the gym crowd.

There’s plenty of space to move around though, so even if the gym is full, you won’t feel suffocated. Plus—the atmosphere’s so warm and supportive you’ll probably enjoy a session even if it’s busy.

Pros

  • Modern facilities and equipment available
  • Supportive atmosphere
  • Friendly staff
  • Easy process for walk-ins
  • Beginner-friendly
  • Expert instructors
  • Well-ran classes

Cons

  • Tends to get overcrowded
  • Receptionist always missing

Top-notch classes

Love this gym! The equipment and classes are amazing. I’m currently in my 2nd set of resistance training classes and love them. The trainers really care about your progression and the classes are tough but also great. What strikes me most about this gym is the team that works there. Everyone is always so friendly and welcoming they are a credit to the gym.Would get my recommendation—Deborah Myler, Google Reviews

Perfect gym for beginners

Been training at mind over matter now for a month. The gym is equipped with the best of gear and the people in the gym are just so friendly. It gives out a good atmosphere.  I’ve been training with Aaron, one of the PTs, and I can’t say anything bad. He makes  you feel comfortable in the gym setting  and he is always there to help or if you have questions.  I would recommend  mind over matter to anyone who is anxious  to join a gym because they’re just so friendly and will take care  of  you. This coming from a person who has bad anxiety. It is the best  gym. Keep it up lads— Ross Hogan, Google Reviews
