Computer ambulance offers Windows and Mac computer repairs for residential and small businesses.  

They also fix wireless networking issues, broadband and email problems and other services like data recovery and backup, computer tuneup and even networking, and VPN and server solutions. 

You can choose 3 ways to get your computer fixed:

• A tech goes to your home or office and fixes it there.

• A tech goes to your home or office to pick up your computer. You can then pick it up from their shop or arrange to have it delivered back to you.
• You can call them and arrange for remote support. You’ll be asked to download a software to enable them to fix your computer remotely while you watch.

After it’s fixed, you can terminate the login connection and delete the software yourself.

Most of these services are also offered by other computer repair shops, but while others close shop in the afternoon, Computer Ambulance works until 8pm during the week. They can also go to your house or office even on a Saturday for just €20.

We think this little “extra” offers a lot of convenience for people who work all day and don’t have the time except when they get off work in the early evening.

Extensive repairs sometimes call for new parts to be replaced. Which leads us to another thing we like about this shop: they carry hard drives, routers, anti-virus software, power units, wireless adaptors etc in their vehicles.

It kind of makes us think of a real ambulance with all the necessary “life-support” paraphernalia, only for computers.

Computer Ambulance covers most areas of South and North Dublin. Unfortunately, they don’t sell PCs.

So, if worse comes to worst and you urgently need a new PC, you will have to go somewhere else to buy it. They can buy it for you though, if you prefer.

That means in the event that you need a laptop or PC replacement, you can immediately get it if the repair doesn’t work out or will take too long. This is especially favorable to most of us who can’t afford to miss a day’s work.

What’s more, you get a 3-month warranty on all parts you buy from them.

Now, back to repairs. You can bring your defective computer to them, they’ll check it and give you a diagnosis, all for free; only the actual repair costs anything.

You can check the repair status online too, which is good. But they say the majority of repairs are usually completed on the same day, and that’s even better.

But although they have other convenient services like online booking, they sadly have no call outs, pick-up, or remote computer repairs.

One, in the unfortunate event that your computer can’t be fixed anymore, you don’t need to pay anything. Their rule is: no fix, no fee.

We think that’s reasonable, but not all computer repair shops operate the same way, so it’s worth noting.

Two, they’re not secretive about their collect and return fee.

It starts at  €14.99, which is affordable compared to other shops. The rest of their rates are all on their website too.

Aside from collect and return, call-outs and remote support, Lynch also accepts walk-ins. They’re temporarily closed because of Covid-19, but you can call or send them an email to schedule a repair and they’ll usually reply within 15 minutes during office hours.

Three, their consultations are free and repairs have a 1-year warranty. And don’t worry about the brand of your computer: they’ll work on those without prejudice!

It’s true that some computer repair shops have online shops too, just like Right-Click.

But while others charge the usual €7 or so for delivery, it’s free when you purchase it from their online shop.

That’s a bit of money saved in case you need to purchase computer accessories, or heaven forbid, a new computer.

Based on what Right-Click’s customers say, it seems they have a good record of fixing what seem like irreparable computer problems on both Windows and Mac. Things like liquid spill, failed updates, data recovery and such are all addressed here.

If you live in the city centre or nearby areas, just bring your drive or machine to them and they will provide free over-the-counter assessment. They’ll let you know the best course of action to take.

So don’t despair. There’s hope for your computer and files to be recovered yet!

However, although it’s a great convenience that you can just pop into their shop without an appointment and they offer remote support for both PC and Mac, it’s a bit disappointing that they don’t seem to have a call-out service. That’s probably our only real complaint.
