Doolally is one of Dublin’s popular Indian restaurants which both tourists and locals love. It has a little bit of everything that you would love in an international cuisine—authentic taste, reasonable price, varied menu, and decent customer service!
The first thing we like about Doolally is that it has gluten-free and vegan options for customers. Most people look for restaurants who can cater to their diet, and this is good news to those who have strict dietary needs.
Another thing we love is the atmosphere inside the restaurant. It’s spacious, warm, well-lit, and clean, so you’ll feel cosy while eating savoury, spicy food.
Sometimes it can get a little loud though. Doolally has a lot of loyal and new customers, so it’s inevitable that it’ll be quite noisy during peak hours.
We recommend booking in advance as well. While the restaurant can accommodate you during non-busy hours, you’ll want to make sure you have a table for a hassle-free meal.
In terms of the staff, we appreciate how accommodating everyone can be. The chefs, for example, will cook your dish based on your preferred level of spices so you’ll fully enjoy your meal without the spiciness getting in the way.
The food is served quickly too! We love that customers can enjoy their Indian food while still piping hot.
We also love that Doolally really serves authentic Indian food. Everyone’s favourite seems to be the paneer makhani, which comes with a small cup of pulao, and according to the customers, it’s very flavourful and has an authentic taste.
Just an advice from us—make sure you check the final bill. Sometimes the pricing on the menu doesn’t match the bill, and of course you’ll want to pay for the right amount.
Pros
- Vegetarian-friendly
- Has gluten-free options
- Great atmosphere
- Has a “birthday plate” special for celebrants
- Flavourful food with authentic Indian taste
- Lovely food presentation
- Level of spice is tailored to customers’ preferences
- Attentive staff
- Reasonable pricing
- Food is served quickly
- Restaurant is big, clean, and comfortable
- Easy booking process
Cons
- A little loud (lots of noisy guests)
- Prices on the menu sometimes don’t match the bill

Good food, friendly staff
On the recommendation of our hotel staff (and Trip Advisor reviews), my wife and I had dinner at Doolally, and we loved it. The food and wine were delicious, and the prices very reasonable. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend it. — Darren C, Trip Advisor
Beautiful ambience with a variety of food and drinks
I had been thinking of visiting since a couple of months ago and I could have never made it, Yet a couple of days ago I finally got to visit there and I need to say the food was really good! It was totally to visit there and I wish I did not wait that long to be there. It is sort of Modernised Indian cuisine and I liked it very much. The place has a beautiful ambiance, variety of dishes and drinks. Truffle cheese naan was the star of the night, I absolutely will come back to have it again. I was happy overall. Thanks for the lovely dinner and service! — Ozgul Kilinc, Google Reviews

What makes Ananda special from other Indian restaurants in Dublin is the twist it gives to traditional Indian food. It’s one of the reasons why it’s a Michelin-starred restaurant, and to us, that alone makes the restaurant a worthy place to try!
The first thing we notice is that despite having a limited menu, there can still be something even for the pickiest eater from the menu. We also love that there’s even vegan or gluten-free dishes on the menu for those who are watching their diets.
And if you tell the restaurant in advance—their chefs can actually prepare recipes for you that’s not in the menu. To us, this is the type of customer service worthy of a Michelin star rating!
We also appreciate the staff, who seem to be knowledgeable about every single dish in the menu. In fact, according to customers we talked to, the staff can give really good recommendations based on their preferences!
The food also arrives on time, which to us is a really good thing. We’ll enjoy the dishes more if we can eat them while they’re still hot.
Another thing we want to commend is the atmosphere—the restaurant has a classy, Indian vibe with a lovely interior. It’s dimly lit though, so some customers complained about the place being a little too dark for them.
One last reminder—booking a table in advance is a must! Since this is a Michelin-starred Indian restaurant, it’s always pretty full.

Stylish, lovely-decorated restaurant with amazing food
What can I say? One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had in Dublin. An Indian friend of mine suggested this place saying:”it’s the best Indian restaurant in Ireland” and I don’t think he was lying. The restaurant is very stylish, with a very nice Art Deco style. Also the choice of food is just right (you know the food is good when the menu is not too big). The waiting staff is amazing and with a courtesy beyond expectations. The food was amazing: it was very tasty and authentic, also well presented. The service overall was very good. Be ready to spend a little bit on the higher end, but nothing crazy. If you take your date here they won’t forget it. Also huge props for having classical music, that was cherry on top for me.— Jimmy Sonny, Google Reviews
Fabulous food with vegetarian options
We booked Ananda for a special anniversary as we wanted to go somewhere we wouldn’t normally eat. The food was fabulous. My dish of lentils simmered for 36 hours was a particular highlight but it was all delicious. The menu is somewhat more limited than other Indian restaurants but there still should be something for all tastes. The service was great and we left stuffed and happy. Vegetarian options: The short-ish menu has 2 vegetarian starters and 3 vegetarian mains. Some of them can also be adapted for vegans — Daniel Farrely, Google Reviews

We decided to check out Indian Zaika in Dublin because a lot of people told us it serves Indian comfort food. What’s a better way to get to know a certain country other than tasting its citizens’ comfort food?
What we love the most about Indian Zaika is that despite boasting a varied menu, it’s pocket-friendly. Anyone who would love to try authentic Indian food in Ireland can get them here, and at such a reasonable price.
We also love that Indian Zaika has a varied menu. It’s the perfect place for picky eaters or even vegetarians—so many vegan-friendly and gluten-free choices from the menu!
When we asked some customers what food they loved the most, they told us that dal makhani, tawa chicken, and naan were at the top of their lists. They told us how pillow-soft and warm the naan is, and they taste good with the savoury dishes!
We also appreciate the warm atmosphere of the restaurant by the way. The staff are very warm and polite, and the chef even personally roams around to check if the customers love the food.
Just a little warning though—the orders can get mixed up on a busy day, which is understandable but bothersome. Delivery process also needs improvement as staff forget to pack some orders at times.
One last inconvenience we can think of is that while Indian Zaika’s in Dublin, it’s far from the city centre. However, it’s worth the travel if you want affordable Indian comfort food at its finest!

Authentic Indian food
Best authentic Indian taste. We ordered vegetarian food. Dal makhani is a must try. Good options in naan. Naans are nice, fresh and soft. I have never tasted any better in Dublin. Veg biryani was on top. Rates are very reasonable. It’s a small space but a must-try Indian food. Would always be a go-to option. Comfort food. — Amit Doshi, Google Reviews
Plenty of options for picky eaters
Wow! This place was so delicious, I’m so sad I don’t live in Dublin to be a regular here. I got the Dal Makhani because of other reviews here. It was my first time having it and it was amazing, I can’t recommend it enough. We also had onion bhajis and they made tikka masala milder for my spice-averse sister. The garlic butter naan was also so yummy. Our server, Sayujya, was incredibly helpful and accommodating, and my sister and I had a lot of fun chatting with him. The service was just as excellent as the food! The next time I’m in Dublin, I’m absolutely coming back!! — Viajando Solo, Google Reviews

Most of the Indian restaurants in Dublin have a casual, relaxed vibe, but if you’re looking for an upscale venue, we recommend Rasam Restaurant. It’s not exactly budget-friendly, but it’s worth your money if you’re willing to splurge a little.
First of all, it’s a fine-dining restaurant. Dress code isn’t really strict, but if you want to match the vibe of the place, then it’s better to dress up a little.
We really appreciate the amazing interior—very posh and elegant. But despite this bit, we love that it still has a warm ambience common among all Indian restaurants.
We also notice that while always full, the place isn’t loud. In fact, it’s quite relaxing and mellow, maybe because the place is really luxurious, and customers adapt to the ambience.
The food is amazing and flavourful, with that authentic taste of Indian spices! The specialties that customers rave about are the vegetarian thali and kulfi, and they love that they’re all served in just the right portion.
In addition to this, Rasam has an extensive wine list. So you can pair the savoury Indian food with the perfect wine to mellow down the strong taste.

Amazing fine dining experience
This is an amazing place for good food with fine dining. If you’re a non vegetarian, you must try masahari nalli. Vegetarian thali was amazing as it had a lot of good varieties, but the other non vegetarian options were equally luscious. Place has some really good desserts. I’d recommend kulfi and cheesecake. Place is nicely maintained by the owner Nisheeth who is a very friendly and fun loving host. Their staff is very cooperative.
Definitely worth a try, highly recommended.— Ekta Bhardwaj, Google Reviews
Mouth-watering dishes with an extensive wine menu

Another upscale restaurant on our list is Konkan Indian Restaurant. It’s a small Indian restaurant near Harold’s Cross—so it’s very accessible—and it seems to be on every local’s mouth!
When we asked them what Konkan’s best dishes were, they wouldn’t stop talking about butter chicken and tarka dahl. They added that if people wanted to experience food with authentic Indian taste, those were the first dishes to try!

Authentic Indian restaurant in a prime, accessible location
Excellent small little restaurant just outside the city centre. The food was very good. We went for the taster menu which allowed us to substitute some dishes due to allergies.
