This all-around physiotherapy clinic also specialises in foot and ankle issues. They offer comprehensive rehab programmes that will resolve your issues effectively, so you can get back to walking normally in no time.

Beyond that, they can treat a variety of injuries such as back and neck pain by employing different techniques and programmes.

It’s great to see that they cater to early morning and evening appointments throughout the weekday—perfect for clients with busy schedules. Alternatively, they’re also open on Saturday mornings, allowing you more flexibility in booking appointments at a time that suits you best.

From what we’ve seen, it seems like availability can take a toll sometimes, seeing that the clinic is run by one physiotherapist only.

Still, we’ve heard many great things about Peter Keane (the lone physiotherapist of this clinic), like how professional and friendly he is to everyone that comes through his doors. He’s also a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP), so that’s reassuring!

Customer Reviews

Knowledge was second to none

“As I sprang out of my relatively low slung car this afternoon, the first thing that came to mind was Peter Keane!!! I have just completed two sessions with Peter on my back. He was absolutely outstanding. His professionalism, his knowledge was second to none. Having worked on my back both manually and with some space age looking machinery, he then demonstrated exercise, got me to do them as he recorded and then emailed to me. His emphasis is on getting the client as mobile as possible as fast as possible and giving you the tools to stay mobile. He is not in the business of bringing you back time after time. This to me also demonstrates a real professional.” —Geraldine Guiry, Google Reviews

Explains everything in understandable language

“I just moved to Waterford and have working from home at a desk for the last 18 months. My neck was super tense. After just one session I feel looser and no pain in my neck. Peter is great. Very professional, explains everything in understandable language and makes a video to help you do your exercises. Delighted to have found a great physio here.” —Tara McGrath, Google Reviews

Another clinic that specialises in sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions is PhysioMotion3D.

What caught our eye with this clinic is the fact that they use a special kind of technology that involves analysing the mechanics of your movement in real-time. We found this service beneficial for runners who may have developed foot and ankle issues.

They also have a similar service that scans and measures how your feet hit the ground while walking and standing. With all this in mind, we can say that they’re a specialist that you can rely on for foot and ankle problems due to injuries and health conditions like diabetes.

It’s great to see that this clinic boasts a relatively large team of therapists who can accommodate multiple clients at the same time. Hence, we don’t think that availability would present much of a problem here.

They’re also one of the very few physiotherapy clinics in Waterford that are open on Sundays actually, which is another reason why we included them on our list!

We’re just a bit bummed to see their limited list of approved insurance providers, which only includes Vhi, Laya Healthcare, and Irish Health Life.

Take note that this clinic mostly caters to sports-related injuries though. Otherwise, we won’t hesitate to tell you to skip this one if you experience physical pain that isn’t caused by sports.

Customer Reviews

Very professional and explained everything

“Very happy with my first session with Peter. Very professional and explained everything in clear and understandable language. Really like the fact he videos the exercises I needed to do and sent them to me by email as this will really help me ensure I am doing them right on my own. He took the time to document a thorough history not just about the initial issue but also any other issues or injuries I may have had that could impact my treatment. Would highly recommend.” —Ruth Hegarty, Google Reviews

The Physio Company is one of Ireland’s largest chains of physiotherapy clinics, serving clients across the country from Dublin down to Waterford.

This clinic made it to our list primarily because of their flexibility in handling appointments, making them a fairly accessible choice for everyone.

For one, they’re the only clinic on our list to offer virtual consultations. We find this option extra convenient and efficient for patients who are unable to come to the clinic due to their injuries.

And because consultations are conducted purely online, that means more flexibility for you in terms of choosing your physiotherapist and time slot. You’ll also receive access to their physio rehab exercise app where you can log your daily progress.

Take note that they only accept face-to-face appointments for those who are clinically in need of hands-on physiotherapy treatment. Hence, you’ll have to schedule a teleconsultation first so they can determine if you’re eligible for treatment or not.

What’s also great about them is that they provide a seamless transition of medical files between clinics, in case you’re planning on moving to another city.

As for face-to-face appointments though, there’s only one chartered physiotherapist in their Waterford clinic as of writing. While this may mean limited availability, their long weekend hours sure do make up for it!

Pros

  • Tele-consultations available
  • Members of ISCP
  • Recognised by major insurance companies
  • Allows clinic transfers
  • Access to special app for patients
  • Large team of physiotherapists
  • Clinics available nationwide

Cons

  • Limited capacity for face-to-face appointments
  • May not be suitable for walk-ins
