1. Shauna’s Pet Shop

If you chat with enough pet lovers, you would likely hear about Shauna’s Pet Shop. I asked my friends where I can get a new collar for my dog, and they all mentioned Shauna.
It’s easy to spot her store, too, because of its bright green motif. Aside from its vibrant color scheme, this pet shop in Dublin offers everything you might need as a pet owner.
I found a lot of kibble and fancy collars that fit my French Bulldog. Needless to say, I had as much fun as my dog in browsing the store.
I also found some dogs and cats for adoption, so I thought about getting a new buddy for Bailey. I asked one of the staff, and he encouraged me to adopt from shelters.
It may seem strange, but it shows that Shauna’s Pet Shop truly cares for animals. Hundreds of pets are left without owners annually, so I found it heart-warming that they would encourage clients to give them a new home.
Dog and cats weren’t the only ones Shauna catered to; her pet shop also offered products and services for less popular animals.
For example, I found stuff for birds, fish, and even reptiles, so your cool friend with a pet iguana will love it here. Furthermore, its pet adoption section offers pages of information for each animal’s needs.
It’s one of the most popular pet shops in Dublin, so it often runs out of stock for many products. I recommend ordering from its website to avoid this hassle.
“Shauna was really helpful in finding a food for our dog! Also ordered online and had a great experience.”
- Jb W., Yelp
“Skilled and experienced staff, great advice for all their pets. Great store for tarantulas and other spiders! Highly recommend.”
- Thomas Ronan Doyle, Facebook
2. Maxi Zoo

The sheer size of Maxi Zoo sets it apart from most pet shops in Dublin. Walking inside feels like stepping into a supermarket as I immediately saw multiple rows of pet products.
Perusing through their wares felt like a separate exercise for my dog as we took several minutes just checking what’s for sale. Also, the wide selection led me to items that I never thought I needed.
For example, I found dog chow for pooches with renal problems, which may come in handy as my pet ages. Also, I found cat food specifically designed to calm felines, so that could be useful if your kitty gets nervous easily.
Surprisingly, it’s also a great place if you keep fish at home. I always wondered what it would be like to own a pet fish, so I checked Maxi Zoo’s extensive aquatic selection.
They have a wide assortment of filters and aquariums, and the staff was also happy to explain their selections. That Maxi Zoo representative expressed so much passion in discussing pet fish that I almost bought a clownfish or two!
Eventually, I needed a break from browsing the store, so I chatted with other customers. While they appreciated the wide variety of products, they wish the store was more consistent in delivering items on time.
Amazing Value at the Right Price
“The choice, the range of food and the quality. Everyone needs to check out some of your sale buys. There’s plenty of cat food/treat bargains to be had. I buy on behalf of my sister who lives in the countryside and at college all day. The delivery price is amazing, I get it delivered to her door. The last order has gone down a treat and the price, so her beloved cats will from today have a regular supply of multi-pack cat food of quality for half the price. Perfect.”

Incredible experience
“Can I just say that both of the men in charge of the fish here are absolute diamonds. Real gentleman they know their stuff and are keen to help. If you’re looking at getting fish to keep as pets I recommend going here first.”
- Joey S., Yelp
3. Petland

I love patronizing local stores to help the community. That’s why I decided to drop by Petland while strolling with my dog.
At first, it may seem like any other pet shop in Dublin. However, entering the store reveals its crowning feature: the staff.
The Petland representatives were more than friendly; it seemed they knew each client personally. They happily greet loyal customers and ask about their pet needs immediately.
They also checked how their dogs and cats were doing. My dog and I were new clients, so we were pleasantly surprised to see the staff eagerly wanting to talk about our needs.
They seemed to truly have a lot of experience with pets as my dog calmly approached them to lick the staff’s hand. Eventually, the representative noticed my dog Bailey’s aging legs and recommended dog food for senior pets.
I also appreciated how low their prices for dog food were compared to other pet shops in Dublin. Even better, their online platform offers nationwide delivery for €7.99. If you spend €100, you get free delivery.
However, one downside with Petland is that it only has two branches, so visiting it may not be easy depending on where you are.
Home food
“Great shop , a lot of choice for such a small shop and very reasonable . Cheaper than some of the superstores . Very helpful staff went out of their way to get me something they didn’t stock”
- Gwen G., Yelp
Now that’s customer service!
“Wonderful friendly service! Both Dublin stores went above and beyond to help me find the products I needed. Speedy reply on messenger too”
- Christina Tully-Gahlot, Facebook
4. Petstop

Petstop is the place to be if you love discounts. It has a huge sale on dog and cat products, such as 10% off on pooch food.
Kitty lovers would also adore this store for its 2-for-1 deals for cat food and 50% discount for cat beds. Petshop is a really fun establishment if you want to pamper your pet on a budget.
Specifically, it was a blast for me and my dog as it offered a dog spa service. My old dog definitely needed a makeover, so I pampered him with that luxury while browsing other stuff.
That’s when I stumbled upon their selection of products for small animals, such as rabbits, gerbils, ferrets, and chinchillas. There were even things for a hamster-like animal called a Degu, which was the first time I’ve learned people keep it as a pet.
More importantly, Petstop sets itself apart from other pet shops in Ireland with its subscription service. Unlike other shops, you may schedule weekly deliveries of your pet needs so you don’t need to contact your branch repeatedly.
The best part is you can cancel, pause, or change your subscription at any time so it can easily fit your busy schedule. For example, you could postpone a delivery if you’re heading out on its arrival date.
Petstop has several branches nationwide, so you may have stumbled upon one in your neighborhood. Unfortunately, many of them had different business hours, so your local branch might open and close at a different time than others.
Some branches also don’t have dog grooming services, so check your desired location before you head out.
Lovely staff, great menu.
“Visited the Athlone store this morning and was greeted by 2 members of staff who were exceptionally friendly. Joanna and I’m sorry I didn’t get the other ladies name blonde hair , both very helpful and friendly. Happy with my purchase and the customer service I received. If all stores had pleasant staff like this it would be make shopping a lot easier.”
- Fiona Clarke, Facebook
Fantastic shop
“The manager at the Limerick store was fantastic to deal with. He took time out to answer some questions about fish tanks and other things I needed to know. A really knowledgeable and nice man.”
- Jonathan, Trustpilot
5. Pets R Us

Pets R Us sounds like a children’s toy store, but it brought me and my dog joy and wonder, too.
The neighborhood may have felt the same as this family-owned business has been serving this local community for over a decade.
It looked like a warehouse from the outside, so I expected a massive selection of products.
I found products I’ve never seen before, such as a shock absorbing leash. It was perfect for my aging dog as it reduced neck strain during our outdoor walks.
I was about to approach the cashier counters when a representative asked if I wanted to use their fitting service. I obliged as I wanted to ensure the leash fits my dog snugly.
After chatting a bit with the staff, I learned that Pets R Us offers fitting services for other accessories as well. I was so delighted with their customer service that I decided to buy nutrient-rich pet food, too.
I found many products I never thought I wanted, such as shock-absorbing leashes for Bailey.
I also got some nutrient-rich pet food to keep my dog healthy. If you’re a first-time pet owner, you’ll find the informative books helpful, too.
Most may find it hard to visit the store as it only has one branch in Ireland. Pets R Us has an online store, but it has specific rules for free delivery.
It offers free shipping for orders over €50 that weigh a total of 30kg. Also, the store says 96% of orders have next day delivery, and it’s closed on Sundays.
Very fast delivery of online order
“First time shopping with Pets R Us but I’ll be back…I received my order the morning after placing it which is the really fast! Thank you!”
- Pauline, Trustpilot
