How We Chose the Best 24-Hour Shops in Dublin
1. Spar Dame Street
Shop Location/s | 5/5 |
Products & Services | 5/5 |
Facilities | 5/5 |
Customer Service | 5/5 |
Modes of Payment | 5/5 |
There may be numerous Spar branches all over Dublin, but this particular location on Dame Street is more than just a 24-hour convenience store.
Located at the corner of Dame and George’s Street, it has evolved from a simple convenience store into a cultural landmark in the heart of the city’s LGBTQ+ scene.
The store’s greatest strength lies in its round-the-clock service, catering to diverse crowds throughout the day and night. It’s good to know that it has become a safe space for the community with an LGBTQ+ nightclub located nearby.
We appreciate the staff’s welcoming attitude to both early morning commuters and post-club crowds. And it’s awesome that the store is well-stocked from day to night, making it a superb go-to destination for late-night snacks and other essentials.
For a convenience store, it’s pretty big and has a wide selection of products, from everyday necessities and fresh food options to a deli and cafe.
The Insomnia Cafe inside the store is particularly popular among morning commuters. We love that it even has seating, which is very convenient for those who wish to take a quick break.
The only downside is that the place can get crowded during peak hours and pricing of products can be a bit higher compared to grocery stores.
Customer Reviews
My friends and I ventured here after a late night sojourn to get some sustenance. There is no doubt in my mind that this was the single best deli experience that I ever had. The workers slinged out those wraps/rolls very swiftly without compromising their composition. The chicken to salad ratio was perfect, the taste was there and none of the fillings were falling out (a huge peeve of mine). My only grievance about the whole experience is that I don’t live in Dublin, so will likely never go here again. 10/10 – Amber F., Google Reviews
Open all day every day, comfortably situated and with a decent selection of drinks (including a large beer variety!), snacks and in-house dining with donuts & coffee. – Florian Wolf, Google Reviews
2. Centra Stoneybatter and Dame Street
Shop Location/s | 5/5 |
Products & Services | 5/5 |
Facilities | 5/5 |
Customer Service | 5/5 |
Modes of Payment | 5/5 |
Centra is another leading convenience store chain in Dublin with numerous branches in the city and across the Emerald Isle. While not all branches are open 24 hours, there are some that are open round-the-clock like Centra Stoneybatter and Dame Street.
We particularly like these two locations because of its strategic positioning and comprehensive product offerings.
The Stoneybatter branch is particularly popular because it’s located in one of Dublin’s hippest neighborhoods, catering to long-time residents and young professionals. We like its extensive deli items, hot meals, sandwiches, and rolls.
Meanwhile, the Dame Street branch is a vital pit stop in Dublin’s bustling city center, located near Temple Bar and other nightlife venues. We love that it has a deli and cafe inside with tables and seats available, too.
It’s great to hear from regular customers that the staff at both stores are very helpful and efficient, particularly during peak hours.
However, expect product prices to be a bit higher especially on Dame Street since it’s right smack in the middle of the Dublin city center.
You can expect the same high pricing at the Stoneybatter branch which can get a bit cramped during busy times as it has a smaller layout.
But overall, these two Centra locations are perfect for a quick stop for drinks, snacks, and everyday essentials.

This Centra is a life saver for Stoneybatter and the outskirts. It’s 24 hours. Best prices. Wheelchair accessible. Nice staff. Lovely store. – Arslan Kundi, Google Reviews
3. Eurospar Bath Avenue
Shop Location/s | 5/5 |
Products & Services | 5/5 |
Facilities | 4.8/5 |
Customer Service | 4.9/5 |
Modes of Payment | 4.9/5 |
One of the best things in life is surely a 24-hour grocery store, and we Dubliners are lucky that we have Eurospar on Bath Avenue.
This branch stands out for its supermarket-like atmosphere while maintaining the convenience of a local shop. Its spacious layout sets it apart from typical convenience stores with wider aisles and a more comfortable shopping experience.
What we found particularly impressive is their fresh produce section, offering a variety of fruits and vegetables that are regularly restocked throughout the day. They also have a deli, cafe, and a great selection of craft beer and wine.
If you’re feeling peckish late at night, they have everything from sandwiches, rolls, pastries, and a range of ingredients you’d typically find in a supermarket.
The 24-hour operation is genuinely a blessing to residents, particularly for shift workers and late-night emergency runs.
Another plus is that they have self-checkout counters available which is pretty convenient. Although some customers noted that the scanner at the self-checkout would register varying prices for one product, which we hope has been fixed.
While prices are more reasonable compared to most convenience stores, some products can still be a bit overpriced.
But overall, Eurospar on Bath Avenue is a gem and a superb go-to store for late-night grocery runs.
Customer Reviews
Cutest little convenience store and coffee shop. Open 24 hours and literally the cleanest and most excellently stocked shop I’ve seen. A whole section of pre-prepared delicatessen options, a fantastic ground-to-order americano. Also, do not forget to grab a freshly made croissant! – Bradley Miller, Google Reviews
Have been going here for many years. Terrific staff, friendly and very helpful. Great for a quick lunch and grocery shop. In store Insomnia with plenty of seating too. Excellent service. – Paul O’Toole, Google Reviews
4. Circle K Parkway West
Shop Location/s | 5/5 |
Products & Services | 4.7/5 |
Facilities | 4.8/5 |
Customer Service | 5/5 |
Modes of Payment | 5/5 |
The best thing about Circle K Parkway West is its strategic location especially if you’re heading to the M4 motorway. You can fill up on gas and grab a quick bite and coffee before a long drive, and it’s really convenient that it’s open 24 hours.
It’s an essential pitstop for Dublin locals and travelers and has everything you need. We like that the service station is pretty spacious with multiple pumps available that ensure quick queues even during busy hours.
The convenience store at the station has a good selection of light bites and hot meals, plus good coffee.
We’d also like to commend the awesome staff for their consistently excellent customer service. It’s great to hear high praise from customers how the crew are always ready to assist with a smile.
Apart from the convenience store and fuel station, they also have a carwash service available, which is pretty convenient.
Our only issue is that their toilets need to be cleaned regularly as some customers noted some instances when basic cleanliness and supplies, such as soap, were lacking.
But to sum up, Circle K Parkway West is a great one-stop shop for your travel needs any time of the day or night.
Customer Reviews
This gas station is located at the junction of R148 and N4, Palmerston. Handy location enough for filling up the gas if hitting the motorway M4. I usually found this Circle K station’s Petrol pricing a few cents higher than the Dublin City’s Ushers Quay Circle K. But one looking for some good coffee or a light meal before a long drive to M4, will surely be preferring this pump (not as crowded as the city center one). There is a car wash as well. – Vibhutesh Kumar Singh, Google Reviews
Great to have a place like this on the motorway to get a pick-me-up.Great selection of dining and local shopping. Really needed and very handy. – Vincent Brunton, Google Reviews
5. Tesco
Shop Location/s | 5/5 |
Products & Services | 5/5 |
Facilities | 5/5 |
Customer Service | 4.8/5 |
Modes of Payment | 5/5 |
Tesco remains one of Dublin’s most prominent supermarket chains. While its stores no longer operate 24/7, it’s good that they offer a comprehensive online shopping service and most branches are open until 10pm.
This chain’s strongest asset is its extensive product range, from budget-friendly Tesco Value items to premium Finest selections. Their own-brand products often receive praise for offering good quality at competitive prices.
The Clubcard program deserves special mention, providing substantial savings and personalized offers that regular shoppers particularly appreciate.
We found their online shopping platform user-friendly which you can access through their website or app. Plus, it’s great that they offer same-day delivery services for most areas in Dublin.
Just take note that same-day delivery may be limited depending on the volume of online shopping customers at particular times. But it’s good that you can book your order up to 3 weeks in advance, which is perfect for those who are busy and like to plan ahead.
However, some customers note inconsistencies across different Dublin locations. While stores like Tesco Extra in Clarehall and Merrion Centre generally maintain high standards, smaller Express outlets can sometimes struggle with stock availability.
But other than that, Tesco is a solid choice for those who like the convenience of online shopping for everything you need.
