When I walked into the room, I immediately felt my sleeves coming over my hands, so all I could think about was readjusting them throughout the interview. As you may have guessed, I didn’t get the call, but hey, at least I eventually knew how to dress better!

How We Chose
1. Hunter Treacy Tailors

Services: Made-to-measure suits, bespoke suits, wedding suits, ready-to-wear clothes
Location: 84 Merrion Square S
Contact: +353 1 531 0626
Business hours:
- Tuesday to Thursday: 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Hunter Treacy Tailors was one of the most recommended options by our respondents, mainly for its in-depth measuring process. They highlighted how the tailors made fittings feel extra personalised, as each garment is tailored from scratch.
Their made-to-measure approach to clothing means that the customisation options are virtually endless. We reviewed their portfolio and our interviewees’ photos, and we saw how their pieces complemented the event they were attending.
Clients have also attributed the personalised experience to the appointment-only scheduling. They shared that it allowed the tailor to focus on them individually and discuss everything, from their design preferences to the event for which they’re wearing the suit.
We also learned from our interviews that the tailors provide expert guidance by patiently explaining options and recommending styles, fabrics, and fitting decisions. Previous clients also appreciated that the tailors didn’t pressure them during their appointment.
However, the appointment-based system of the tailors also means slightly limited availability. It doesn’t help that they’re only open four days a week.
One of the best decisions I made
“Choosing Hunter Treacy Tailors for my wedding suit was one of the best decisions I made for the big day. Sean made the entire process enjoyable and stress-free. He helped me choose a beautiful, modern fabric and designed a suit that was both classic and uniquely mine.
All elements were tailored to my taste, with Sean’s professional guidance. Guidance that thankfully lacked any sense of pressure you would associate with a traditional salesman.
On the day, I felt incredibly handsome and comfortable. The compliments from guests were endless. Thank you for helping me look and feel my absolute best!”

Absolutely wonderful experience
“An absolutely wonderful experience of getting my first made-to-measure suit. Sean provides an amazing service, drawing on his vast experience in tailoring.
Everything was top class: the initial conversations about fabric and buttons in the beautiful fitting room, the thoughtful modifications made to ensure the suit was exactly what I wanted, the excellent finish and detail down to a personalised monogram.
This was truly personalised service, worlds away from the impersonal department store experience. I could not recommend Hunter Treacy enough and am already planning my next visit!”

2. Paul Henry Tailoring

Services: Bespoke tailoring, alterations, wedding suits, legal wear, equestrian
Location: 23 William St S
Contact: +353 1 814 8883
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM
One thing that stood out to us during our interviews with Paul Henry Tailoring’s previous clients was its lighthearted, welcoming ambience. Some of them even shared that the tailors would joke around with them briefly but get back to business in a snap.
Clients also shared that the company’s owner, Henry, is usually in the store, leading his team of award-winning tailors with 40+ years of experience.
We were also pleased to discover that the tailors provided a relaxing, pressure-free environment during the fittings. This ambience is crucial given the breadth of their garment selection.
The process started with an in-depth consultation, where the tailors helped their clients find their preferences and style. The bespoke service also included more than 30 measurements and up to four fittings to ensure the garment fit clients like a glove.
With that said, do take note that building a suit from scratch would usually take three to four weeks before finishing. Furthermore, services like these usually come with a hefty price tag.
The most beautiful experience
“My Husband and I got married on 20/12/24. Henry made my husband’s suit. He is very tall and very Broad, so having a suit made was our only option. The service we received here was phenomenal. He and his staff are extremely talented, welcoming, and meticulous.
Their attention to detail is second to none, down to the pocket linings he helped my husband pick.
Every time we visited for fittings, we left feeling lighter, always welcomed into their shop with open arms and a couple of jokes, or a firm talk to my husband to teach him how to stand in photos for the best angles lol.
I cannot recommend this business enough. We had the most beautiful experience. Thank you to all of your team, you’re outstanding at what you do.”

Couldn’t be more pleased with the finished product
“Having invested heavily in a new blazer, I was a little apprehensive about altering it in any way out of concern that it might ruin the piece.
Encouraged by the positive reviews, I went to Paul Henry Tailoring. From the moment I stepped into the establishment and met Eric, I knew I had found the right place. The attention to detail and passion for the craft of tailoring went far beyond my expectations.
Paul only needed one look at me wearing the blazer and knew precisely what needed to be done. The sleeves and blazer length were expertly shortened according to my physique as well as the style of the blazer itself.
I couldn’t be more pleased with the finished product, which now fits perfectly. The professionalism and expertise were equally matched by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. I couldn’t recommend this family-run business more.”

Even with his limited online feedback, we wanted to include Davind Young because he’s one of the few tailors in Ireland who completed training on Savile Row in London.
This place is considered the historic centre of bespoke clothing, immediately giving him a deep understanding of the service and timeless design principles. He’s quite the master as well, having been in business since 1982.
Our interviewees also shared that, to this day, Young applies his Savile Row training by hand-cutting fabrics, offering multiple fittings, and properly padding jackets.
We’ve had clients compare Young’s jacket to others and note that his work is noticeably lighter and that it moulds to their body over the years.
David Young also treats his customers individually, which is why he has an appointment-based structure. We were pleased to learn from our clients that he takes the time to make numerous measurements and ask multiple questions to understand their style.
We only wish that his website would be updated with essential information, including his fee structure.
Very meticulous and professional
“This was my first experience ordering a bespoke suit, and I’m so glad I did it! In the past, I never looked quite right in suits, so I decided this time to do it the right way.
David was very meticulous and professional in his approach, offering me lots of options and advising me as to what would suit best for my build.
The resultant suit is a perfect blend of modern and conservative, which is exactly what I was looking for, and the fabric we chose together has a lovely quality and texture to it.
I’m delighted with my first bespoke suit, and everyone says I look great in it!”

One of the very best in the world
“An amazing tailor and one of the very best in the world. Also, David, without any question, is the only real bona fide bespoke tailor in Dublin and Ireland. All of David Young’s suits are made up to Savile Row standards, which no other tailor in Ireland can achieve.
David worked on Savile Row for a few years and is the only real bespoke tailor in the whole of Northern and Southern Ireland. David’s choice of fabrics is the best and exclusively from Savile Row, London.
Expect the best artisan and bespoke tailoring skills from one of the best. David is in Galway and is a lovely, friendly tailor as well.”

Mark Swan’s custom-made tailor business is an Irish staple, spanning 70+ years and passed down through generations. That said, the current team, including Mark, has a deep understanding of fitting, styling, and tailoring.

One of the things we liked about this tailor is its selection of fabrics. Clients shared how fun it was to choose from materials such as Irish linen, Donegal tweeds, Italian wools, and more to find the best option that would suit the theme of their event.
As for pricing, Mark offers one of the most competitive rates in the market, with his unique tailoring service starting at €699.
The only caveat is that his services aren’t traditionally bespoke, where he handcuts and handsews fabrics. However, he applies bespoke principles to his made-to-measure tailoring services, following appointment-based measuring.
Incredible service
“I can’t thank Mark enough for his incredible service. I had just come back from holiday — a little heavier than expected — and realised my suit no longer fit.
With only a few days before a friend’s wedding, I reached out to Mark on a bank holiday Monday, and he had me fully sorted by the next day!
The only issue was the waistcoat, but even that was no problem — Mark arranged for it to be tailored quickly, and now everything fits perfectly. I’m all set to look and feel great at the wedding.
Mark really went above and beyond, and I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I need a suit again. Top-notch service!”

Couldn’t have been happier with the result
“I can’t thank Mark enough for his exceptional service! I was in a bind before a very important family wedding and needed my blazer tailored at the last minute. Mark not only saw me on short notice but also measured and expertly altered my blazer all in the same day!
His precision and attention to detail left me with a perfectly fitted blazer, and I couldn’t have been happier with the result. The quality of the work was outstanding, and he finished everything just in time before I had to leave for the wedding.
Highly recommend Mark for anyone in need of professional, fast, and friendly tailoring services!”

Can’t stop looking at it
“Absolutely fantastic. It’s hard to express how thrilled I am with the bespoke tweed jacket I just collected today. The care and expertise that Jerome has put into this garment are evident in the design, the classic look, and the immaculate attention to detail.
Every time I look at it, and I can’t stop looking at it, I find another part of it that I love. I feel very privileged to own it and to have been a part of the Olann Glas story. I’ll be back!”
