How to DIY Your Own Bridal Bouquet

As they say, a wedding is the bride’s day. What better way to make a statement with a DIY bridal bouquet?

Making your own bouquet to walk down the aisle is a great way to add a sentimental and personalized touch.

Get some inspiration

Get some inspiration

There are a ton of ways you can get inspiration for your wedding bouquet. You can do quick searches all over the Internet or visit your local flower shop to see their samples.

You can also use the wedding’s color scheme to tie everything together. This way, all the decorations, ornaments, and the like blend in.

Keep in mind the seasonality of the flowers. Meaning, some may not be available during specific times of the year.

Don’t fret, you can always give your local flower shop a call to check if they have what you want in stock. Speaking of, we have some recommendations for flower delivery shops for you to check out:

Prep all your materials

Prep all your materials

Once you’ve chosen the kind of bouquet you want, it’s time for the assembly process! But first, make sure that you have all the necessary materials:

  • A bucket with water
  • Floral tape
  • Rubber bands, string, or wire
  • Shears
  • Ribbon
  • Pins
  • Flowers and greenery of choice

To prep your flowers, clean them by cutting off excess leaves and the stem at your desired length. Trim the stem using a straight cut, not an angle.

Having a straight cut lessens the chances of the stem getting caught onto your dress or hurting you. After, put them in a bucket with water to keep them fresh.

Start by selecting the flower that you want to be at the center of your bouquet. Afterward, keep adding flowers all around.

Use floral tape to secure each round of flowers in place. This will also ensure that the rest of the rounds have a stable base to latch onto.

Continue to build your bouquet using an even rotation and securing with floral tape when necessary. You can mix and match the kinds of flowers, sizes, and more until you’ve gotten your desired look.

Once you’re done, add greenery to fill in the gaps and make your bouquet look fuller.

Add the finishing touches

Now that you’re done positioning your flowers, tie everything together with some wire or rubber bands. Then, wrap the stems with more floral tape from the bottom spiraling downwards.

This will ensure that all your flowers will stay securely in place. Once you’re done, cover it up with your ribbon of choice and secure it with pins.

You can opt to wrap all the stems with ribbon or only the section that you’ll be holding.

Ta-da! You’re finished and ready for your big day!

And that ends our guide on how to make your own bridal bouquet! We hope that you enjoyed making your bouquet and are now ready for your big day.
