We love Clayton Hotel Leopardstown because it offers the best of both worlds – urban convenience and easy access to Dublin’s countryside.

It’s ideally situated at the foot of the Dublin mountains, offering easy access to both city and outdoor recreation. Its proximity to public transport makes exploring Dublin and its shopping centers a breeze.

Of course, if you’re planning a shopping spree at the Dundrum Town Centre, this hotel is a convenient base with the Central Park Luas stop just a 5-minute walk away. And we love that we can also do nature trips at nearby parks!

We had a comfortable stay at our Executive Room. It had everything we needed from toiletries, bathrobe and slippers, wifi, and a Nespresso machine, which was a nice touch.

They also have several room types available including Superior Rooms, Junior Suite, and Triple Rooms. It’s great that families or bigger groups have the option to book a Family Room or interconnecting family room for convenience.

However, we noticed that their rooms aren’t equipped with air conditioning. While our stay was comfortable since it was during the cooler months, it might not be the same during summer.

It’s also a good thing that they have dining options onsite as well as a cafe and bar, since there are only a few restaurants close by.

Pros

  • Good location near public transport
  • 10 minutes away from Dundrum Town Centre by car
  • Proximity to both city and outdoor recreation
  • Has 2 restaurant options, cafe, and bar

Cons

  • No air conditioning in hotel rooms
  • Only a few other dining options in the area

They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the restaurant and you can also order drinks from the bar.

When it comes to other hotel facilities, it’s great that they also have a fitness center and running trails within the hotel grounds.

I loved this historic mansion hotel. It was on a former estate from 1750, and the grounds were manicured and vast. It was fun pretending it was my mansion for a short while. Interiors were stunning and the food was fantastic. The modern sections flowed easily into the original mansion portion. – Suzanne M., Tripadvisor

Absolutely beautiful hotel! Staff was very attentive to our needs. Our room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. We had dinner in the greenhouse – delicious food and very pleasant servers. The gardens surrounding the hotel are so pretty and well maintained. – Linda Salek, Google Reviews

Customer Reviews

Great option in Dublin for a small family like ours. We stayed in the apartment room, which was clean and well appointed. Service was very friendly, and the staff was great. Our two children shared the sofa bed, and the staff was quick to provide linens and a comforter when we checked in. The self-service coffee bar in the lobby was a great amenity, and we used it when we left each morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. – George Metros, Google Reviews

Highly recommend. Comfortable, clean, reasonably priced accommodations in an old Georgian townhouse. Appreciated the free parking right in front of the townhouse and ability to check in early with no hassle or added cost. Room (a triple) was well appointed and had everything we needed. Location is decent — about a twenty minute walk to St. Stephen’s Green and very close to a good array of restaurants and stores. A great choice! – Cliff, Tripadvisor

Customer Reviews

From my first interaction on the phone while booking everything was very pleasant. The staff were really helpful and obliging, including dropping an extra bottle of water to my room. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The gym was one of the best I’ve ever seen in a hotel. Breakfast was very good also. Very happy overall, should I have need to stay in SoCoDu again I’ll definitely be giving the Talbot Hotel a call. – Derek Noonan, Google Reviews

Cracking hotel I really like it and very handy on the n11 for getting into town and plenty of parking out the back. There’s a very nice bar and also a Brand new gym so everything you’d expect from a 4 star hotel. The price for the quality of rooms and locations is very fair. The receptionists are always very helpful and the rest of the staff seem happy to oblige. – Scabby Burns, Google Reviews
