These 5 hotels in Corstorphine, Edinburgh revived our wanderlust!
Done with overpriced city-centre hotels with boring interiors, limited amenities, or a lack of fun attractions nearby? Me too. Honestly, if hotels were meant to look like where we live, why bother leaving your home at all?
My friends and I write for a living, but we’ve gotten tired of cafes and libraries. We want the charm of cosy hotels to refresh our creative minds overnight. And after months of travelling together, we think we can finally call ourselves getaway pros!
So whether you’re a tourist, weekend staycationer, or business traveller, we’ve got you covered with these top-rated hotels in Corstorphine, Edinburgh below.
How We Chose The Best Hotels in Corstorphine, Edinburgh
1. Corstorphine Lodge Hotel

Address: Horizons Head Office, 188 St John’s Rd
Phone: +44 131 476 7116, [email protected]
Corstorphine Lodge Hotel is a 3-star accommodation for those seeking a quaint and serene location.
It’s set in two adjacent 1880s Victorian villas, so we reckon it’s a hub for history fans! Plus, it’s only around 4 mi (6.44 km) from the National Museum of Scotland!
We also love that its laid-back rooms have all the basic amenities, like Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and en suite bathrooms, as well as desks and sitting areas.
Breakfast is already included in the price too. For a heartier option, you can upgrade it to a proper English breakfast. This comes at a cost, though.
Want to get some sunshine? We bet you’ll adore the Victorian walled gardens and the bright sunroom as well.
And if you’re looking to buy some clothes or grocery items, we think it’s convenient that the Gyle Shopping Centre is only 15 minutes away.
This hotel isn’t located right in the city centre, but you can still see the bus stop almost immediately outside. There’s also only a small parking space here, but you can park on the road nearby when needed.
Comfortable Beds
“The family room was quite large, the beds were comfortable, the staff was kind. Parking possible on the road next to hotel. It’s close to the airport (direct bus line) and to the city centre. Great cafés nearby, a shop and a pub across the road, close to the zoo, Enterprise Car Rental also a few stops away which was handy. We didn’t try breakfast, so can’t comment on that.”
– Ms. Katarina Slapničar, Google Review
Great Value
“Great value for the money. Large, clean room with a pretty view overlooking St. John’s Rd. Tiny bathroom/shower, but its an old building converted to a hotel. Very clean. Staff was kind and helpful. Didn’t try their breakfast as a lovely café was less than a block away, so I can’t speak to that. Super convenient to Zoo, airport and a quick Uber to City Centre. Would def recommend.”
– Mr. Steven Lucht, Google Review
2. The White Lady – JD Wetherspoon

Address: 92-98 St John’s Rd
Phone: +44 131 314 0680, [email protected]
The White Lady is a casual pub and mid-range hotel, giving you the best of both worlds! We love its traditional, old-world pub vibe, complete with historic Scottish touches. This includes wood furnishings, dark wood mouldings, and patterned carpets.
For us, it’s also a treat for sightseers! It’s only 1 mile from Edinburgh Zoo and 2 miles from the Gyle Shopping Centre.
We also like the minimalist rooms—they’re big on comfort rather than luxury. The twin, double, and family rooms offer Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with cables, en suite bathrooms, and coffeemakers.
Moreover, we appreciate the free parking, reducing overall costs. This perk is limited, though, so it’s best to contact the staff beforehand.
And since this hotel is also a pub, it can be a tad noisy in some rooms. If this bothers you, we recommend putting in a request for the quietest room available.
Cannot Fault Them
“Stayed here when in Edinburgh and CAN NOT FAULT THEM. They are so friendly And welcoming, the parking is on site and so easy. The room is beautifully decorated, Wonderfully spacious and spotless. Then down stairs is a restaurant where you can get a delicious meal for a very reasonable price. Good drinks and cocktails. Already planning my next stay here. Also for those going into town the bus stop is 2 shops down and goes straight into town. So convenient.”

3. Holiday Inn Edinburgh by IHG

Address: 132 Corstorphine Rd
Phone: 1800 1110 2295 (reservations), +44 371 942 9026 (front desk), [email protected]
Business hours:
- Mon-Fri: 6:15am – 10:00pm
- Sat-Sun: 7:00am – 9:00pm
Holiday Inn Edinburgh by IHG is a modest 4-star hotel that we believe is pretty strategic if you want a more productive itinerary.
For one, it’s 0.2 mi (0.32 km) from Edinburgh Zoo, 0.9 mi (1.45 km) from Balgreen tram station, and 3 mi (4.83 km) from Edinburgh Castle.
We also like its well-equipped, straightforward rooms with basic amenities and 24-hour room service. Only some have zoo views, though, so we recommend asking the staff in advance if you want a sneak peek. Otherwise, you can just visit the animals.
It’s amazing for us that the hotel is eco-certified too! If you’re conscious about the environment, you might appreciate that it has built-in sustainable features, such as LED lighting, recycling, green cleaning, and the like.
And when you get hungry, we like that there are 2 restaurants on-site. Plus, you can enjoy amenities like the bar, spa, and fitness centre, as well as the indoor pool and hot tub for a relaxing night.
Nevertheless, we noticed that some rooms look a tad dated. Some rooms could benefit from more consistent refurbishment.
Good Food and Great Service
“Have stayed here many times over the past couple of years, and have say there’s been so many massive improvements. Good food and great service, although the rooms (especially bathrooms) are a little tired and in need of refurbishment. Now one of my go to hotels when working in Edinburgh.”
– Gizmo UK, Google Review
Awesome
“They shuttle you to the airport and the rooms are clean and bed comfortable. The staff is awesome and helpful.”

4. Innkeeper’s Collection

Address: West Toby Carvery, St John’s Rd
Phone: +44 131 334 8235, 03451 551 551
Innkeeper’s Collection is a cosy, stone-built 3-star pub-lodging spot where you can enjoy traditional British fare and a staycation experience.
It’s handy for us that it’s near 2 beautiful attractions for history fans too. It’s 4.1 mi (6.6 km) from Edinburgh Castle and 5 mi (8.05 km) from the 16th-century Palace of Holyroodhouse.
And while it offers fairly simple rooms, we appreciate that it’s got most of the essentials, such as Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and coffeemakers.
Other free amenities also include a continental breakfast and parking. And if you want to unwind, we adore the laidback wood-lined bar and a carvery (with carved, roasted meats) restaurant on-site.
There’s complimentary private parking on-site too. But if you’re not driving, we think you’ll like that this hotel is near a bus stop for an easy commute.
However, we noticed that there aren’t many options for breakfast. The way we see it, there could be more healthy options, like fruits or cereal.
Comfortable
“Ideally situated on the main bus routes into the city. Comfortable rooms with nice ensuite facilities. Restaurant on-site, reasonably priced.”
– Mr. B Rae, Google Review
Exceptional
“Staff was exceptional very friendly and helpful. Comped our meal because there was a mix up with the room. No elevator so we had to drag our bags up two flights of stairs. Otherwise lovely and rustic pub/inn atmosphere.”
– Ms. Diane Laferriere-Murphy, Google Review
5. Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Murrayfield

Address: 187 Clermiston Rd
Phone: +44 131 535 9988, [email protected]
If you’re searching for sleek and sophisticated, Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Murrayfield is a modern 3-star place worth considering.
We believe it’s good for nature lovers too! It’s only a minute walk from Hillwood Park if you want to enjoy walking trails and serene views.
Apart from the basic amenities, we think business travellers would like the contemporary twin and triple rooms with work desks. There are 7 meeting and conference rooms too—they can host up to 320 delegates if needed!
But if you just want more space for your crew, you can always upgrade or move to a family room with bunk beds.
In addition, its dining spot here serves a continental or full Scottish breakfast and dinner. Hungry throughout the day? No worries, since there’s an all-day bar with a food menu too!
If you’re concerned about the extra calories, we reckon its health club (with a pool) and fitness suite can cover that.
Just note that there are surcharges on breakfast and other add-ons you’ll need to clarify with the staff first. Pets aren’t allowed in here either, except for guide dogs.
Great Park View
“Located midday near the city centre and the airport, with just a 3-minute walk to the bus stop. The park’s great view makes it an ideal spot for a morning walk.”
– House Of Paige, Google Review
Comfy Bed, Great Shower
“Comfy, large bed. Shower was great, good pressure and temperature control. The bathroom could use more hooks for hanging towels, such as on the back of the door but that’s just preference. There was only one bar at the end of the shower to hang towels. The only downside was that we were placed in a room which was at the end of a hallway nearby a door to the stairwell, which could be quite loud with people frequently passing through.”
