“Not sure where to start, I suppose from the start! My partner and I had a consultation with Dr. Reidy in 2018, and we were given a very thorough review of our options and of course Dr. Reidy told us there were no guarantees. This was reiterated in Nov 2019, when we decided to finally make the leap to go ahead with IVF. We did unfortunately have a failed cycle in December 2019. Not to be disheartened however, we were fully up for going again. We debriefed with Dr. Reidy and to our surprise she advised that I go for a laparoscopy to investigate further. In February 2020, Dr. Wingfield (consultant with MFC), performed the procedure. I was shocked to find out I had endometriosis, sneakily hiding behind both my ovaries and in far parts of my uterus, which was removed. I might add, I never had ‘symptoms’ of endo. I am happy to report I am now 15 weeks pregnant with twins – a direct result of the laparoscopy. So, although the IVF did fail, MFC did not fail us. Instead of forcing us into another doomed cycle they took the time to get to the root cause.
