Customer Reviews

“One of the great Dim Sum restaurants in Dublin, we ordered a variety of different dumplings today for lunch.

The Chow Fun noodles with Prawn and the Rice Noodle Roll with Shrimp were the highlights of the lunch, with the latter clearly being made fresh from the chef on order. I especially recommend the delicious pork and prawn Shumai if you want a change from the classic prawn dumplings.

Definitely a restaurant that guarantees many return visits.”

“Had an excellent meal in this restaurant last night. Service was very friendly and professional. All courses were excellent. Between the five of us we had a wide range of dishes which we shared and all were excellent. Loved their dumplings and duck. Highly recommend a visit”

Offering a more casual Chinese cuisine dining experience, Xi’An Street Food is certainly an excellent choice for those looking for authentic meals with delicious flavors.

The restaurant has two available branches in Dublin: one in South Anne Street and the other in North Earl Street.

This makes it more accessible when one branch is filled with guests. Although, we would advise to get there early because it does get very busy during lunch and dinner.

We also really like the atmosphere of the store itself, as it is very simple yet well-maintained, a great choice for a small lunch out.

We would also like to highlight the varieties in taste that this restaurant has to offer. They really hone in on the flavor packed and vibrate nature that Chinese cuisine is well-known for.

Many customers have expressed their fervent recommendations on the flavors alone and would repeatedly return because of this. It’s easy to see why it is a popular choice amongst other Chinese restaurants once you get a taste of their meals.

Xi’An meat burger and the Biang Biang noodles are the fan favorite dishes, both having satisfying textures with simple yet punchy flavors. But beyond this, we find them to have a great range of other types of meals like mixed vegetable dishes and stewed pork.

Overall, Xi’An Street Food solidifies itself as a must visit for those wanting to try delicious quality dishes in the Dublin area.

Pros

  • Two branches available in Dublin
  • Also available through Deliveroo
  • High customer praise for flavors
  • Open to hosting reserved gatherings

Cons

  • Very busy during lunches and dinners
  • Not the best amount of in-store space for large groups

The Food is so Tasty

For lunch or dinner time the most time packed, but the food is so tasty. It’s worth it to wait in the line, because they’re usually very quick in preparing the meal. So the best thing here is to order for take away. What I can recommend are the spring rolls. Different than usual are you getting to big one, so delicious. By the way are the small noodle box portion very big. – Carolin Hagmeyer

Deserves Five Stars

This place is amazing and deserves the five stars! Good price and quality and you will get served pretty quickly. The biang biang noodles were medium spicy. I recommend you to eat here! Vegetarian options: Enough vegetarian options, just ask the staff – Xiao Yu

Hang Dai is a restaurant that definitely brings forward an electric type of atmosphere compared to other establishments, but nonetheless, still provides very satisfying and high quality meals.

What initially stands out to us about this restaurant is the atmosphere and decor. Hang Dai has taken inspiration from John Carpenter films and Blade Runner – we can really see their vision with the neon lighting and futuristic decor.

If you would like a very immersive dining experience, we highly recommend checking them out.

In addition to this, we also really like the variety in facilities and entertainment they have. They have high quality sound systems where, post-dinner, the DJ is able to bring up the energy with their setlist.

The second floor also features a Gold Bar, which is very tastefully decorated, where customers can enjoy their cocktail offerings both inside and on their balcony.

In terms of their menu, admittedly it’s a little more limited in range compared to other options, but we like that they feature more unique flavor combinations. For example, they have both an Iberico pork char siu as well as Sichuan dishes like Kung Pao chicken.

We like that it matches very well with the overall fun and modern atmosphere. We also appreciate that they have vegetarian options like pear, rhubarb and rice noodle salad.

Pros

  • Great lighting and decor
  • Excellent choice for a fun night out
  • Offer both indoor and outdoor dining
  • Very creative flavor combinations in terms of food

Cons

  • More limited food menu
  • Slightly pricier main course options

Customer Reviews

Great Atmosphere, Great Food

Yum food, yum cocktails, brilliant atmosphere and authentic decor….. really no complaints at all! Everything is cooked to perfection and I was really impressed with the flavour combos (spice lovers paradise!). Would recommend booking ahead of time to get a specific table type (patio, booth options available). Can’t wait to return and try some more of the menu. – Katie O Connor

Mak’s wide range of dishes combined with their sophisticated and modern atmosphere, makes for an excellent choice for foodies looking to sample a tasty experience.

The creator, Julian Mak, aimed to curate Hong Kong Style dim sum and Chinese cuisine alongside a stylish ambience.

We like that customers can rest assured of the quality of the dishes because of the knowledgeable staff. Customers have repeatedly mentioned that the staff are very helpful and provide excellent service.

We would also like to note that their ambience and decor are fantastic for evening meals. The dark wood and the colorfully understated lighting give the place an up-to-date touch, perfect for special occasions and romantic evenings.

What we can appreciate particularly about their menu is that it also has gluten free and tofu options for vegetarians. Keep in mind however, that their early bird menu is only available for an hour, so you would need to arrive or make a reservation early.

They have a great assortment of dishes to choose from like szechuan scallops, duck pancakes and potstickers. Groups will also enjoy that some dishes have different size options.

In the end, Mak is the restaurant to be for its variety and quality in dishes, and facilities perfect for evening meals.

Pros

  • Very skilled chefs with amazing quality dishes
  • Great atmosphere
  • Have a coeliac menu and tofu options
  • Excellent deals for set options

Cons

  • Additional service charge for parties of six or more
  • Early bird menu only available for an hour

Excellent Gluten Free Menu, Lovely Staff

Mak is the only chinese restaurant I have ever found with a gluten free menu. Lovely food, staff and atmosphere. The photo included is gf singapore noodles with duck and egg fried rice. – Kitser 1

An Experience We Hoped For

First time visiting tonight, we’ve been wanting to go here for ages and so glad we had as good an experience as we hoped for! Prawn toast, bbq ribs, chicken and pork baos were amazing and melt in the mouth. Dumplings were also very tasty – in particular the spicy chicken potsticker. Great glass of crisp sauvignon blanc and the creamiest cheesecake to finish. We wish we had room to try more of the menu! Great service and friendly staff, thank you! – GG

BIGFAN is not your average Chinese restaurant, offering customers a more casual dining experience with a unique set of food choices that help it stand out.

They’re one of the more recent restaurants to open out there, launching in 2020, but has quickly become a fan favorite for its curation of dishes.

We wouldn’t recommend visiting here in large groups as the table spaces are quite small. However, we do like the ambiance they have created.

When dining here, you’ll feel like you’re eating in a busy cityscape with their simple wood paneling yet bold overhead neon lights. We highly recommend visiting here for more casual eats and cravings.

What we can also appreciate about their selection is that they offer very different flavor profiles, adding a twist to traditional Chinese dishes.

For example, their dish called “The Black Dragon” combines the taste of rich squid ink in bun form alongside wagyu beef and lobster tail. They also have very delicious dumpling and wonton options with ingredients like minced Andarl pork and miso broth.

We also appreciate that they have a lot of vegetarian options available across all categories. Pair that with a wide range of drinks that customers can choose from, and we think they’ve got it made.

BIGFAN is a great place to stop by if you’re looking to expand your horizons with all sorts of flavors. It definitely is one of the more unique options out there.

Pros

  • Excellent amount of vegetarian options
  • Dining facilities are great for more casual sit downs
  • Flavor combinations are more unique
  • Very affordable options

Cons

  • Table seating space is quite small
  • Less amount of traditional options

If you’re looking to learn more about authentic Chinese cuisine, Good World Restaurant is definitely one of the best options out there in Dublin.

A standout for us is that they have two branches available, each more appropriate for different customer needs. Their South Great George’s street location is best for more sit down meals while their Westmoreland branch is better for casual bites and eats.

It’s great that they’ve really expanded and categorized what their branches can offer according to the format desired.

What we also greatly appreciate about them is that they go beyond what restaurants typically do, which is to celebrate and inform customers more about Chinese culture.

From time to time, they have culture events planned – they’re even a partner of the Dublin Chinese New Year Festival! If you’re looking for an experience that really brings forth the culture behind the food, we highly recommend them.

We find their menu to be one of the best options out there if you’re in the mood for a wide range of more traditional Chinese dishes. The Hong Kong Style BBQ section has a lot of different types of meats to choose from like roast duck, chicken and pork belly.

Their classics and street food sections will also impress in selection, from congees to fried rice dishes to rolls and salads.

Keep in mind however, that they don’t have an online booking system, so to reserve a table, you must call the restaurant.

Pros

  • Accommodate private events
  • Have two branches in Dublin offering different experiences
  • Excellent range of more traditional Chinese dishes
  • Partners with the Dublin Chinese New Year Festival

Cons

  • No online reservation system
  • Some customer complaints on staff service

Reasonably Priced, Generous Servings

This was the most authentic Hong Kong Dimsum we ever had at Dublin. Averagely €26 per person and we are super full! There dimsum range from €5.50 to €7.00 per dish. I would definitely recommend ordering their steamed sponge cake, steamed meat soup bun & mixed meat dumpling as they were my favourites. They are very generous with the meat & I would rate 100/ 100! Good service as well 🙂 – Amanda Heng

Delicious and Authentic Chinese Food

Great service and authentic Chinese food. Everything was delicious and reminds me of the dim sum you can get in restaurants in Hong Kong. 100% recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants to eat some authentic dim sum! – Anthony Tat
