5 of the Best Career Coaches in Ireland

No matter how long we’ve been working, we still find ourselves getting caught up with different issues regarding our career path. And this is where career coaches come into the picture.

Ireland has some of the best career coaches that can help us bring back that work enthusiasm. They help rebuild our confidence, train us for new skills, and rediscover our purpose so that we can make sound choices that will lead us to the right career path.

Cost of Hiring a Career Coach in Ireland

The rates of hiring a career coach in Ireland may vary depending on the reputation of the company, the credentials of the coaches, and the services you need from them.

On average, a career coach’s hourly rate starts at  €75-€150 per hour. And if you’re willing to dedicate more time, most career coaching companies also offer session packages that start at €450 to €1,200 for six sessions.

Evaluating the Top Career Coaches in Ireland

We’ve come up with the list of the best career coaches in Ireland using the following criteria:

Communication techniques talk about the methods and tools used by the coaches to help the clients, and how effective they are in helping them. It also talks about the atmosphere of the sessions–if it’s conducive for coaching.
Credentials and reputation evaluate the expertise and the experience of the coaches in line with the company image.
Rates and packages should be flexible so anyone can hire a career coach based on their budget and needs.
Client reviews are very important because they evaluate the overall experience of people who availed the services of the career coach.

They have a reputation for empowering professionals to discover and gain their dream positions, surmount career obstacles, or hone their communication skills to secure promotions.

What we love about LEAP Coaching is that it doesn’t just focus on the technical aspects of career coaching. In fact, clients agree with us when we say that the company knows how to dig deeper into your personal goals so it can help you align your skills with them!

But—we love that they focus on your strengths, focusing more on developing what you’re good at to help you in your career. They support you discover and align with work that plays to your strengths and feels just right! Leading to more joy and satisfaction in what you do.

They can provide detailed insights about how effective your CV, LinkedIn or job application, interview skills are at getting across your skills, and what you can do to improve them. We love that they don’t miss any detail and tell you straight what you need to hear and not what you want to hear.

And the best thing about it is that the career coaches discuss these things with you in a supportive way. Instead of making you feel inadequate, the way they talk to you makes you want to improve more, making the sessions really worth the rates you’ll pay.

Speaking of rates, we love the transparency in the website. When you book, you can find all types of sessions there along with the rates so you’ll instantly have an idea regarding how the sessions will go and how much you’ll be spending.

Went above and beyond

During the Career Change Coaching Programme Patricia truly went above and beyond what I initially came for help with. After our sessions, I have a much better understanding and acceptance of who I am. I learned so much about myself with Patricia’s help. I now have a better understanding of my strengths, weaknesses, values, and motivators. I now feel equipped to lead a life where I stay true to these things and feel confident on my chosen career path. Patricia is so easy to talk to, I felt very comfortable being honest with her about what makes me happy and she helped me set out to look for those things. The leap career change coaching programme will make you think about aspects of yourself you didn’t realise you would need to understand. I highly recommend Patricia to anyone who needs some guidance on their career path, but not only did she help me with that, she helped me to understand who I am. I cannot recommend her enough.Amy, Client Review

If you ask us, we consider Career Coach Me as one of the best career coaches in Ireland because of their coaches’ communication styles. We’re really in awe of how they communicate with their clients, allowing them to see things differently.

For example, most of Career Coach Me’s clients are those who want to have a change in career path. And when we asked a few of their clients why, they said it’s because the career coaches give great insights and career recommendations.

In addition to this, they said that they were able to find out that there were other options for them after every session. The career coaches know how to bring out the hidden skills and passion their clients have, leading them to consider a change in career.

And for us, that’s a good thing! Sometimes we forget about our own strengths and our value because we’re too focused on the technical aspects of our careers, and having coaches like this helps us rediscover ourselves.

We also love that the coaches always have a positive approach. Self-confidence is very important in any career endeavour because it inspires productivity.

The only thing we think might need a little tweaking is the formality of the sessions. It’ll probably be more relaxing if the sessions are a little less formal.

Also, we think it’s worth noting that Career Coach Me’s always fully booked because other than the approach, the rates are reasonable. You might want to schedule your sessions in advance.

Pros

  • Open on Saturdays until noon
  • Good communication styles
  • Focuses on areas of improvement
  • Provides detailed feedback
  • Positive approach
  • Great career change recommendations
  • Reasonable pricing

Cons

  • Sessions are a little too formal
  • Always fully booked

Amazing communication styles!

I booked an online consultation with Cathy for support with interview preparation.  It was a great learning experience and a very worthwhile exercise.  I liked her approach and communication style.  Cathy focused on the key areas where I sought assistance and delivered valuable advice as to how to improve on the process.  Cathy provided a detailed summary of what was discussed after the meeting which also was very helpful. I would highly recommend Cathy to anyone looking to improve their interview skills and boost their confidence before attending an interview.— Mike Seymour, Google Reviews

Recommends good career options to those who want to change paths

I booked in with Cathy for the career report and debrief package. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of changing their career. Cathy is such a lovely lady. She is so positive and easy to talk to. She suggested careers that I never would have thought of, and set me on the right path. I am very thankful that I booked in with her. Onwards and upwards from here.— Eimear Duffy, Google Reviews

If you’re looking for a no-nonsense, systematic approach, we recommend The Career Coach. This company is very organised in terms of sessions, and the career coaches guide you every step of the way without missing a detail!

We think The Career Coach is more suited for those who have already been working for quite some time. The career coaches focus more on the techniques you can employ to be able to increase your marketability.

We love how detailed all sessions get—whether you’re asking advice on your CVs or asking advice on career or workplace matters. You’ll receive constructive feedback before the coaches tell you what you can do step-by-step.

Another thing we appreciate is that they encourage the clients to speak their minds as well. The sessions aren’t just one-sided—the career coaches make sure that the clients participate well and that they know the whys and hows of the sessions.

Lastly—we’re amazed at how cohesive the sessions are! Each session isn’t made to be random, what you learn from a previous session is necessary for you to grasp the next one—everything’s just connected!

Just a couple of things we think they should improve on—responsiveness to client questions. We understand that the company tends to be busy, but it’s also important to pay attention to those emails and phone calls.

Pros

  • Systematic approach
  • Detailed insights on CV making
  • Focuses on the techniques
  • Open communication with client
  • Cohesive sessions
  • Guides you step-by-step
  • Constructive feedback
  • Informative sessions

Cons

Methodical approach

After just two meetings with Janette, I got a job! She helped me build my CV, we talked about how it was supposed to be done for the jobs I wanted to apply for. After the first meeting, I got an interview and the second meeting helped me to be confident. We talked about how I should answer the questions, and important topics to pay attention to. Following Janette’s tips, I got the offer for the job 3 days after the interview. I’ve been recommending it to all my friends. My experience was a huge success. I’m so thankful!! — Fabíolla Mayrinki, Google Reviews

Cohesive sessions

I recently had a consultation with Janette and I thoroughly enjoyed this session. I went into the session feeling a little overwhelmed about my career options and preferences and Janette was fantastic in helping me to develop more clarity around these. The session was well organised, thorough and the additional follow-up after the session helped to consolidate everything we had discussed during the session. Thanks a million!— Zee, Google Reviews

Anna Lehane Life and Career Coaching is run by Anna, who is a life coach and a career coach at the same time. So you can really see the difference in the approach, which we actually appreciate.

For one, Anna’s approach is very personal and persuasive. She casually talks to you and you end up opening up to her—and this is a good thing when determining the things you need to improve on that can help you in your career progression.

We love that Anna’s very helpful as well. She really wants to give you all the information you need so she provides thorough reports about the sessions.

The clients we talked to love this because they said they could always go back to the sessions to remind them about the things they forgot. And we agree—because sometimes we tend to focus on certain things that we forget other important ones.

Another thing we love is that Anna never fails to relate real-life experiences to your professional experiences. Perhaps this is the advantage of having a life and career coach in one body—she knows how to incorporate your life values in your career life!

She’s also always available for consultation, which is another plus to us. Her career advice is very personalised and pushes you to reevaluate your career goals, so it’s not a surprise that she’s always ready to clarify or expound on things.

Just a warning though—you strictly need to book weeks in advance because Anna is often busy. There’s no email or phone for initial contact, but you can use the contact form on her site and she’ll get back to you for your schedule.

Pros

  • Methodical yet personal approach
  • Friendly and persuasive
  • Gives personalised advice clients can really use
  • Always available for consultation
  • Responsive to emails
  • Very patient
  • Good listener

Cons

  • Needs booking a few weeks in advance
  • No phone number or email for initial inquiry; just contact form

Pushes you to reevaluate your goals

Anna helped me at a time where I had to make a really difficult decision in my life. She makes you rethink your belief system. When I would say  “I can’t do that” about a certain situation she would reply with “but why can’t you do that?” or “what’s stopping you from doing that?” Anna is so friendly and easy going. You don’t feel like you’re talking to a Life Coach you feel like you are talking to a close friend you can trust.— Noelle Brennane, Google Reviews

Extremely easy to talk to

Anna is an amazing life coach and was amazing from the get go, always made me feel at ease and comfortable (the candle always helped). She has given me tools that I will carry forward for the rest of my life. Anna is extremely friendly and really easy to chat with. I never once felt judged during any of my sessions. She offered me guidance throughout each session and had a lot of patience. She has helped me so much in becoming more aware of my thoughts which were holding me back in life and career. I don’t think Anna realises how much she has helped me and others. Forever grateful to Anna!— Jessica Nott, Google Reviews

We asked some of the clients of Orla Dempsey Career and Life Coaching regarding what they like most about the company. They all told us the same thing—the fun but informative sessions!

They told us that despite the sessions being career coaching sessions, they never got bored because the sessions were very interactive. They loved that while the sessions are suited for the corporate setting, they’re not too rigid so they enjoyed attending them.

We appreciate this type of approach because it’s more encouraging to clients. We think adding relatable aspects to the sessions allows more information retention and boost of self-confidence.

We also love how the career coaches don’t just stop on training and giving advice. They really discuss their observations and teach their clients the techniques so they can apply them to their career endeavours.

We just hope that Orla Dempsey can improve its website more. The details are very confusing, and there’s also some information lacking that first-time clients might need when they visit the site.

Another thing—there’s no phone number to call or email to send messages to, which is inconvenient. However, there’s a chat box where you can talk to the company and you’ll receive information via the details you provided.

Overall, we’re satisfied at the services provided by Orla Dempsey. So if you’re looking for a career coach company in Ireland where you’ll get your money’s worth, it’s worth giving it a try.
