It’s a 160 km drive from Dublin via the M7 and M8 motorways, taking approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes. It’s a 100 km journey from Cork via the M8, taking around an hour. A public car park is close to the site, and parking costs around €4.50.
2. Bus
Another option for getting to the Rock of Cashel is to take a bus. Bus Éireann operates the 245X route, which connects Dublin and Cork with a stop in Cashel. The bus leaves from Busáras Station in Dublin city center and takes approximately 2 hours to reach the Rock.
From Cork, the bus departs from Parnell Place and takes around 1 hour and 40 minutes. However, the buses run infrequently, usually four times daily, making this option less convenient for most travelers.
3. Train
You can take a train to the nearby town of Thurles and arrange private transportation to the Rock of Cashel. Irish Rail operates trains from Dublin Heuston to Thurles every 30 minutes, with the journey taking about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
From Thurles, you can hire a taxi or arrange a private transfer to the Rock of Cashel, which is approximately 20 km away.
