Make a splash at Baysports
Baysports is Ireland’s largest waterpark located at the heart of River Shannon. They have over 1,400 square meters worth of inflatables to swim around and play around on.
They have a ton of other water sports that you can check out, too. You can rent out and race some kayaks and powerboats.
After a fun day under the sun, you can chill out at their Baycafe. They’re known for their stone-baked pizza, ice pops, coffee, and cajun chips.
Fun day out at Castlecomer Discovery Park
Castlecomer Discovery Park is an enormous 80-acre park that has a ton of things to do for the entire family. They have a number of interactive activities for any age group.
If you’re not afraid of heights, they have scenic zip lines, climbings walls, and tree-top walks. On top of that, they boast a beautiful lake where you can rent paddleboards.
If you’re up for the challenge, you can even try your hand at archery. Their staff will teach you the ropes so inexperience won’t be an issue.
They have trails, too, if you’re eyeing a more relaxed activity. Along the property, they have picnic tables and cafes where you can rest.
Challenge yourself at the Kildare Maze
Are you ready to test out your skills? The Kildare Maze is the biggest hedge maze in Leinster with 1.5 acres of hedges.
They also have a significantly smaller version called the Wooden Maze. Don’t be fooled though since they change the layout every now and then to keep the mind-boggling fun going.
If you’re not up for getting lost, they also have a variety of other kid-friendly activities. For the youngsters, they have a toddler’s play area with a fun-sized playground and sandbox.
There’s a spacious picnic area for when you need to sit down for a bit and enjoy some snacks and fresh air.
Surf’s up at Lahinch Surf School
Learn to surf the waves at Lahinch Surf School run by former pro surfer John McCarthy. Aside from family lessons, they also offer a weekend course and a summer surf camp.
For safety reasons, they only allow kids 9 and above to join the adult sessions. However, they are willing to teach younger kids as long as there are guardians to supervise.
Adults don’t have any age restrictions, though! So you can give granny a call to have her join in on the fun.
Make new friends at the Glendeer Pet Farm
Glendeer Pet Farm is a 6-acre open farm located in Galway. As their name suggests, they host over 50 different species of animals and birds.
If you’re up for a mini-adventure, they have a half-mile-long nature trail. Although it’s wheelchair-accessible, it may be tricky to navigate because of the uneven terrain and tree roots.
You can arrange for a guided tour for groups, too. This is great if you want a fun yet educational learning experience.
Did we mention they have a pets corner too? Here, you can look, pet, and even feed their animals up close.
Afterward, you can chill out at their indoor and outdoor picnic area. You’re even welcome to bring your own picnic if you’d like.
