As the year winds down, I reflect on my New Year’s resolution to eat greener and embrace a plant-based lifestyle. But with the last quarter upon us, I’ve struggled to discover vegan spots that truly inspire me and align with my goals. 

It’s been a journey filled with ups and downs, but I’m excited to share the hidden gems I’ve unearthed in Belfast! Join me as I take you through my favorite vegan haunts, which satisfy cravings and delight in healthy eating.

1. Jumon

Jumon is all about vegan cuisine with a unique Asian twist. I love how they focus on mindful eating, and their mantra, “I can’t control everything in my life, but I can control what I put in my body,” resonates with me.

The menu is divided into “Smalls” and “Bigs,” and during my visit, I loved the KFB (Korean Fried Broccoli) and the Kkanpoong Crispy Tofu. The drink menu is also equally impressive, especially the Coconut Margaritas.

The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the contemporary design reflects the Asian culinary theme. Plus, the menu frequently changes with seasonal specials, so every visit feels like a new adventure for your taste buds.

Umi Falafel is all about fresh, plant-based goodness, and its falafel is truly something else! It’s made with chickpeas soaked for over 24 hours and a blend of 14 different spices and herbs—talk about dedication to flavor!

What I love most is that you can customize your order. I had a blast mixing and matching different salads and sandwiches. The meal deals are also a steal – you get a sandwich or burger with sides like spiced potato wedges or lentil soup.

The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with indoor and outdoor seating. The Mediterranean theme sets the tone for an authentic dining experience. 

I tried the Plant-Based Shawarma Wrap, and it was a flavor explosion. You should definitely try it, too! They also host special events and themed nights, a fantastic celebration of Middle Eastern culture. 

3. The Lamppost Café

The Lamppost Café is a cozy little place with an entirely vegan menu that has won my heart. Their secret garden is perfect for enjoying your meal outside, especially on sunny days. 

I’ve spent many afternoons there, sipping specialty coffees made with oat or almond milk and indulging in delicious vegan pastries.

The ambiance at The Lamppost Café is inviting. Its decor and menu offerings reflect a charming European theme. The food focuses on modern Irish and European dishes made with plant-based ingredients.

If you’re ever looking to host an event, this café is available for private gatherings, which I think adds such a lovely and intimate touch to any occasion.

4. 2Taps Wine Bar

2Taps Wine Bar has a fully vegan menu, which is a game-changer for me as I follow a vegan diet. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxed, and they have one of the largest outdoor heated terraces in Belfast, perfect for enjoying a meal outside any time of year.

I had the best time indulging in their bottomless brunch – it’s a great deal! You can enjoy two tapas and six drinks for just €35 per person. It’s a fantastic way to spend a leisurely weekend with friends while trying their delicious vegan dishes.

The ambiance is perfect, with a vibrant yet cozy feel and a Spanish and European theme that adds to the dining experience. I loved the Patatas Bravas and Grilled Hispi Cabbage – both were bursting with flavor and beautifully presented.

What’s also cool is that they host events like Singing Sundays, where you can enjoy live acoustic music from 5 to 8 p.m. They have some great promotions, too, such as during Midweek Madness, where you can enjoy two tapas and a jug of sangria for just €25.

5. Sage

Sage is the go-to spot for an amazing vegan dining experience. It’s known for its dedication to plant-based cuisine and inventive twist on traditional dishes bursting with flavor without animal products. 

Walking into Sage feels like a warm hug – the cozy, rustic decor perfectly complements its eco-friendly philosophy. 

The menu is filled with modern vegan delights, using seasonal ingredients from local suppliers, which shines through in their menu. It’s not just about the food – it’s about sustainability and supporting the community. 

My absolute favorite thing to do here is to treat myself to brunch, especially their heavenly vegan pancakes with fresh fruit and maple syrup. Sage offers takeaway and delivery, making it even more convenient for those cozy nights.

6. Bo Tree Kitchen

Bo Tree Kitchen serves authentic Thai flavors with a fully plant-based menu. What sets it apart is its use of fresh herbs and spices imported from Thailand, which gives every dish an incredible burst of authentic flavor.

I appreciate that it’s a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) restaurant, so you can enjoy your favorite drinks without the usual restaurant markup. The decor reflects Thai culture with a modern twist and is warm and inviting.

Now, let’s talk about the food. The cuisine is primarily Thai-inspired, and it’s both comforting and exciting. I can’t get enough of their stir-fried tofu with aromatic curry sauce – the blend of spices and flavors is perfect. 

7. The Old Inn

The historic Old Inn has been around since the 17th century and has become a go-to spot for plant-based dining. The vegan menu is delightful, featuring dishes like Spring Vegetable and garlic Linguine and Courgette.

What I love most about The Old Inn is its cozy ambiance and rustic decor. They even have outdoor seating if you prefer dining al fresco. I always appreciate the chance to unwind with their curated wine selection.

The food is a perfect blend of hearty pub fare with a modern twist while staying true to its vegan ethos. One of my favorites is the Vegan Goan Curry – it’s bursting with spices, and the fluffy rice completes the dish.

Tribal Burger is a game-changer in the city’s dining scene because it’s completely vegan! I love that they’re all about providing delicious plant-based options, and their handcrafted burgers are seriously satisfying.

The vibe at Tribal Burger is just awesome – it’s vibrant yet relaxed, and the modern decor suits its urban setting. You can sit indoors or enjoy the outdoor seating for a lovely al fresco dining experience. 

They’ve taken American-inspired fast food and given it a creative vegan twist. My absolute favorite treat there is their Big Vegan Fries. Plus, if you’re having a cozy night in, you can easily order online for delivery.

9. Little Wing Pizzeria

The ambiance at Little Wing is just perfect—it’s cozy and rustic Italian, which really sets the mood. Plus, they offer takeaway services so that you can enjoy their tasty pizzas at home or on the go.

I can’t get enough of their classic favorites like the Margherita and Funghi, all made with top-notch vegan cheese and fresh ingredients. One of my favorite things to do there is to start with their delicious garlic bread and bruschetta before indulging in pizza. 

10. Nico’s Pizzeria Restaurant

Nico’s Pizzeria offers a completely vegan menu with a unique twist on traditional Italian dishes. I was impressed with their Mediterranean bruschetta, vegan Margherita pizza, and penne arrabbiata – all made with fresh, top-notch ingredients.

Nico’s ambiance is inviting and reflects the restaurant’s Italian roots. The decor is simple yet charming, perfect for family or friend gatherings.

What’s great is that they offer a takeaway service so that you can enjoy their delicious pizzas in your home. I also found their online ordering system super convenient.
