We completed a pizza pilgrimage in Belfast, and here are the top 10 spots on our list.

It all started one lazy Saturday night when I was huddled on the couch with my friends, binge-watching “Chef’s Table” and “Somebody Feed Me” on Netflix. 

Between the mouthwatering shots of cheesy pizzas and our playful banter, a dare was born: to find the best pizza places in Belfast. 

Armed with our appetites and a sense of adventure, we set out on a delicious pilgrimage that became a quest for the ultimate slice. So, did we find pizza heaven? You’ll have to read on to find out!

Little Wing Pizzeria is a cozy spot that’s been around since 2009. They make the most delicious Naples-style pizza. The crust is thin and crispy, and the center is chewy and good. 

They use the best ingredients, like Italian flour and tomatoes from Parma, to make their pizzas top-notch. Little Wing has even expanded to ten locations across Northern Ireland, so you know it’s a hit with pizza lovers.

It has a rustic yet modern feel, with comfy seating and warm lighting, perfect for hanging out with friends or having a special get-together. Plus, it’s family-friendly, with baby-changing facilities and a menu for kids.

When it comes to food, you’ve got to try their Margherita pizza—it’s their bestseller for a reason! They also have cool events like pizza-making classes and weekly discounts, making it even more awesome. 

2. Villa Italia

Villa Italia is a family-run pizzeria in South Belfast that has been around since 1988. The restaurant is in a beautiful old Georgian building, which feels like a piece of local history. 

Villa Italia prides itself on crafting handmade stone-baked pizzas, ensuring a perfect crust that is both crispy and chewy. This traditional method enhances the flavor and texture, setting their pizzas apart from others in the area.

The place has a rustic Italian vibe, with murals, terracotta tiles, and hanging grapevines. It also has an attractive garden area for smokers and accessible facilities for people with disabilities. 

3. Fratelli Belfast

Fratelli is like a slice of Italy right in the city’s heart. The place has a warm, family-friendly vibe, and you feel right at home. “Fratelli” means “brothers” in Italian, which reflects their philosophy.

The ambiance is inviting and lively, with rustic charm and modern decor. And get this—they have an all-weather terrace with fairy lights, perfect for soaking in the vibrant city atmosphere.

I couldn’t resist their Margherita pizza – it’s a bestseller for a reason. The simplicity and fresh ingredients shine through. Plus, they have all these cool events like Santa Sundays for the kids and movie nights for cozy gatherings with friends.

4. Coppi

Coppi in Belfast is an Italian restaurant in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter, run by Andrea and Chef Tony O’Neill. The place has a real Venetian vibe, and the chefs have put a modern twist on traditional Italian dishes. 

Coppi specializes in Venetian-style pizzas, which are distinct from traditional Neapolitan pizzas. They offer a variety of creative toppings, such as confit duck, truffle honey, and prawns, showcasing a blend of flavors you won’t find in typical pizzerias.

I love the rustic decor and the open kitchen, where you can see the chefs at work. The food is incredible—handmade pasta and Venetian-style pizzas with unique toppings like confit duck and truffle honey. 

When I was there, I had the best time enjoying Cicchetti with friends and soaking in the lively atmosphere. I highly recommend their pizzas, especially those topped with prawns and spiced hummus—they’re a flavor explosion! 

5. Scalini

Scalini is run by the nicest family, and it has a cozy, inviting vibe that makes you feel right at home. The decor is beautifully Italian, and the staff is super friendly, which adds to the warm atmosphere.

But let me tell you about their pizzas—they’re something else. They’re all handmade and stone-baked using traditional techniques inspired by southern Italian cuisine. The dough is prepared fresh daily, and it’s the perfect balance of crispy and chewy.

I’m a huge fan of their handmade stone-baked pizzas. My go-to is the classic Margherita, but they have other tempting options like the spicy Diavola and the rich Quattro Formaggi. You have to pair your pizza with a glass of their house red wine.

The restaurant’s design is also cool—it’s multi-level, so you can choose from a cozy rustic feel to an al fresco ambiance under twinkling lights. Each level offers a unique character, making every visit a new adventure. 

6. Bullhouse East

Bullhouse East has an amazing outdoor beer garden where you can relax and enjoy the best craft beers and wood-fired pizzas. The place has a rich history—it was the first spot in Belfast to get a new license to sell alcohol in over 30 years. 

Let me tell you about the pizzas—they’re so good! I always go for the Margherita pizza—it’s a classic and never disappoints. They also have other awesome options like Chorizo and Four-Cheese pizzas, all made with the freshest ingredients.

One of the things I love about Bullhouse East is that they often host special events like beer and cheese pairings. It’s a great way to explore new tastes and have a good time. 

Keep an eye out for their promotions, too – they sometimes have discounts like 10% off your first order, which is always a nice touch. They’ve also got board games for some light-hearted fun, and the place is dog-friendly.

7. The Belfast Empire

The Belfast Empire is located in a converted church in the heart of the Botanic area, which gives it a unique vibe. When you walk in, you can’t help but notice the high ceilings and stained glass windows, which create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

They’re known for their Empire pizza; let me tell you, it’s delicious. They make the dough in-house, so you know it’s crafted with care and quality. 

I couldn’t resist the classic Margherita pizza—it’s simple yet delicious with fresh mozzarella and aromatic basil. And get this: on weekdays, you can grab a Margherita for just £5! 

The whole place has a vibrant atmosphere, and the staff are super friendly and always ready to share stories about the venue’s history. It’s become a staple in Belfast, drawing in locals and visitors alike.

8. Pizza Punks Belfast

Pizza Punks Belfast is one of my favorite spots in the heart of Belfast. The best thing about this place is that you can create your pizza with unlimited toppings at no extra cost. 

They use sourdough pizzas made from a special starter from San Francisco’s Boudin Bakery, which screams quality and uniqueness. The vibe inside Pizza Punks is so lively and fun, with a mix of punk rock and casual dining.

It’s the perfect spot to hang out with friends and family. They play the coolest tunes that match the place’s rebellious spirit. Plus, they have a wide selection of craft beers and killer cocktails to pair with your pizza for an amazing experience.

I couldn’t resist trying their ‘Nduja pizza, a perfect blend of spicy and sweet flavors. And they have some awesome specials, too, like their “Thank Fck it’s Thursday” deal, where you can get two pizzas, two sides, and two drinks for just £36. It’s a steal!

9. Pizza on the Square

Pizza on the Square has such a cool history—apparently, it’s linked to Sir Ernest Clark, the first Head of the Northern Ireland Civil Service. Who would’ve thought right? 

Now, it’s this award-winning spot known for its delicious pizzas and pasta made from local ingredients. The vibe inside is so cozy and welcoming, with rustic charm and modern style, perfect for snapping some Instagram-worthy pics.

Plus, they’ve got a fully stocked bar and super helpful staff. After checking out nearby attractions like the Grand Opera House, I love chilling there. Their pizzas are a must-try, especially the Margherita and spicy Diavola. 

They even have great lunch deals for £9.50, where you can get a 9” pizza with any two toppings from Monday to Thursday. And watch for their special events and discounts – checking their schedule is always good.

They offer takeout and delivery, so you can enjoy their delicious food wherever you are. When ordering, you’ve got to try their Margherita pizza. 

And get this: they even have special events like “Pizza Nights,” offering discounts on select pizzas. It’s seriously a pizza lover’s dream. You should also try homemade tiramisu for dessert – it’s the perfect way to end your meal on a sweet note.
