Be the “Mane” Attraction with These Top Hair Salons in Ireland
Despite my soft appearance, crying in public rarely happens to me. Sad movies? Nah, they don’t faze me much. Well, except for those heartbreaking dog flicks—I’m not totally heartless, you know! And even then, it’s just a quick, eye-watering moment.
But you know what’s got me tearing up lately? It was actually after a botched hair salon visit! I showed the stylist some inspiration, but what I got was way off the mark. To be fair, he asked if I liked it, but I couldn’t muster a “no” because, you know, manners.
So there I was, back home, crying over my crowning glory disaster. Because of that, I vowed to do better next time by scoping out the best hair salons in Ireland. Check out my reviews and spare yourself from the same emotional turmoil!

How We Chose
1. Zeba Hairdressing
COST | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
BOOKING SYSTEM | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
SERVICE | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
COMMUNICATION | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
Zeba Hairdressing is a family-run salon in Ireland that’s been around since 1993, so we reckon the stylists here have tons of experience to spare.
Whether you need a quick trim, a colour touch-up, a complete restyle, or something more dramatic like a perm or wave, we feel they’ve got you covered. We also like that there are 3 treatments available for those who just want to keep their hair looking great.
We’re also big fans of the salon’s portfolio because it features lots of modern styles. Think bright orange dyes, red or blonde streaks, and special event looks with bridal updos and glamorous pearl accessories.
But what we love most is the colouring services, with plenty of options like full or half-head highlights, balayage, colour pops, toners, and colour corrections.
Just keep in mind that prices can vary based on factors like hair length and previous colour treatments. We suggest taking advantage of the free consultation to get a great grasp of the costs.
But sometimes, you might wait longer than your scheduled appointment time. This might be unavoidable, so we think it’s a good idea to plan your day with some flexibility.
Pros
- Over 3 decades in the business
- Extensive colouring options
- Knowledgeable with trendy hairstyles
- Free consultation
Cons
- Actual costs might be higher
- Occasional appointment delays
Amazing Cut

2. The Space
COST | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
BOOKING SYSTEM | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
SERVICE | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
COMMUNICATION | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
The Space is another great Irish salon to check out. Its director has over 22 years of solid experience, and we noticed that the salon has a bunch of regular clients.
There are many colour options here too, so we bet you could get really personalised results. You may go for just a few highlights, a full head of highlights, root colouring, or other custom services.
In our opinion, the stylists look pretty skilled with tape extensions here too. Not to mention, they offer lots of choices for various lengths.
Just keep in mind that its prices online don’t include the cost of the extensions, which you also need to buy beforehand—we reckon it’s a good idea to ask about this first!
Also, remember that clients here need to get a skin allergy test at least 48 hours or up to 6 months before any colour treatment. The staff can’t give you a quote over the phone either, so we suggest going in for a consultation first.
The way we see it, the best days to visit the salon are Wednesdays and Thursdays because the staff opens 2 hours longer than usual.
As for parking, it’s handy that there’s street parking available on St Annes Rd, St Patricks Rd, St Brigid’s Rd Lower, and St Clements Rd. We suggest downloading the Parking Tag app to easily extend your parking time from your phone.
Pros
- Expertise spanning over 2 decades
- Varied colour options
- Skilled with taped extensions
- Convenient parking nearby
- Longer hours on selected days
Cons
- Requires skin allergy test before colouring
- Must buy extensions beforehand

3. Moyo
COST | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
BOOKING SYSTEM | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
SERVICE | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
COMMUNICATION | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
Just a 2-minute walk from Harcourt Luas stop in Dublin, Moyo is one of the best hair salons to check out in Ireland.
Right away, we liked that all the prices were posted online. It’s great for us to see how transparent the salon is with its fees.
For us, the salon offers a good variety of colouring options, including full and partial works and personalised colours. If you want to save some cash, we say go for a colour with a blowdry package.
We also noticed that many services here are priced a bit lower than other places in Ireland, which seems like a nice bonus.
Another plus for us is that the staff speaks multiple languages! For example, they can also converse in Italian, Dutch, and German to accommodate more people.
If you’re visiting, the salon is open 6 days a week. We also think booking an appointment here is a breeze since you can do that through the salon’s website or app.
There’s on-site parking here too! Just make sure to book in advance instead of walking in to guarantee yourself a slot.
But inevitably, some stylists here have had misunderstandings with a few clients. To prevent that, we encourage being clear about how much hair you want to be trimmed off and all that. Remember, speak up now or forever hold your peace!
Pros
- Upfront costs online
- More affordable than other salons
- Multilingual staff
- App and website bookings
- Available parking onsite
Cons
- Reports of trimming mistakes

5. Hair at 74
COST | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
BOOKING SYSTEM | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
SERVICE | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
COMMUNICATION | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
Hair at 74, founded in 1974, is one of the oldest and best salons in Galway. We think it’s pretty amazing that this salon has won awards like “Best of Galway” at the Irish Hair & Beauty Awards 2022.
We also love the wide array of services available here! The salon specialises in creative colour, blonde highlights, balayage, hair extensions, and perming, as well as simpler short and long haircuts and styling.
In our opinion, the salon’s booking system is amazing for both individuals and groups too! We believe its website makes it super easy to book different services for multiple people without unnecessary repetition or hassle.
If you prefer some extra services, we like that you may opt for lash lifts or Builder in a Bottle (BIAB) nails—a gel-like nail polish applied as an overlay to natural nails. The latter is similar to regular gel polish but thicker and won’t chip easily.
Yet, the salon can be understaffed now and then. A past client we talked to even mentioned feeling rushed during a haircut! But with a small team, we think this can’t be helped.
Pros
- Award-winning salon
- Numerous offerings to select from
- Handy booking system for groups
- Offers extra services like BIAB nails
Cons
- Occasional short-staffing

Then she went through the style with me and gave me expert advice on my hair. She did an incredible job and was so friendly, talented and professional. 100% will go back. Absolute gem of a business in Galway!” — Meagan O’ Neill, Google Reviews
